Ok,

BIG Kudos to Smellybum for finding this Ebay Ad :
ERNIE BALL EVIL FORCES PREMIUM LEATHER INK TATTOO STRAP - (eBay item 260187587177 end time Dec-04-07 14:02:06 PST)

And the picture advertising it !

I reckon there's a bit of fun to be had with this, so rather than clog up the Ebay thread let's do it here.

The challenge ?

Best caption for the pic !

I'll start :

I will say this.. it's refreshing to see a girl modeling something guitar related that isn't just skin and bones. :)

He's also tried to eat the new strap locks!

*one day, Beth runs the sales reports for inked straps and the Albert Lee model and discovers, with shock and horror, that sales have taken a nose-dive!* :D

For what it's worth Beth I agree with you - I posted this on the ebay thread with the tag line check out the marketing. - it's a clear indicator that the guitar/bass market is mainly male dominated, sad state of affairs, If you look at how many posts this one simple image has produced it's mad!

This poor girl was in a rush for work and forgot to get dressed, seriously though, If there was a way to balance the guitar industry to get more female players (and personnel as good as you !) then I'd do whatever I could to assist.

I (and I'm sure dizzy) didn't mean to offend anyone, just a bit of fun gone wrong! - feel free to print my picture off for your desk?? - or even better put it next to the candy machine - should stop people from over indulging!

Smelly out.

This brings a whole new meaning to the term "buckle rash".

Thanks Beth.

As one of the few females that post here, I'm not offended, but it seriously makes me question the 'tastes' of men. A real classy looking chick...

^^^ As a male I will at least volunteer that she isn't very attractive. My balls deserve better. Personal taste. Sorry, what was this thread about?

My 9 year old son is starting to play guitar, and I showed him this board afew weeks ago, as somewhere to see cool gear.

Dizzy/Mods - can you delete this thread please?

Thanks.

SO you kids see that as many people that think this is a great excercise to make Ball jokes as many are offended. (PS When its you last name and the name of most of your products you have heard them all maybe when you were twelve.) When I hear a new bald guy joke or the bonus is a new joke that uses both Sterling and Ball I will pass out. Its not possible.

I know you guys meant it in good fun but we need to make sure that with the internet we keep in mind that it is a global and diverse audience and it is always better the more people we can make comfortable.

THis photo is not unique to media in the music business, or any business. It is a subject I have discusssed with Beth and many other women. There are worse photos in each and every guitar magazine. There is not a prime time television show that doesnt tease through their adverts and storyline nusing cheesy sexploitation. BUy a aports car without women in the ad implying that you will get that beautiful girl if you drive the hot car.... It doesnt make it right but it is the world we live in.

I am not going to delete it but dont mind an intelligent discussion.I would like for some of the posters to look at what they have posted and if it is original, and funny without pissing off a large majority of families, women, and men who are trying to escape the locker room leave it..if not self regulate.

The ball jokes are just old and predictable. Ill leave you with a good one....."you have Sterling Ball's" OIr HEy Chrome dome! HAHAha not funny

This is not a hi-jack - just steering back to the mainstream path.....

Cool BP,

on the thread of intelligent discussion, and to get away from the fact that no ladies were offended by the picture of me.......

Anyone have any views (apart from what got us here) - on why there are less female players ? - I used to teach back in 94 - and had a 60 40 male split, but from what I here now it's more like 90 10 male -

You'd think with the Sheryl Crows' KT Tunstall, Katie melauauaua etc. . there'd be more - ladies where are you ?

and Ricman, 9 year-olds and the internet do not mix, your the parent, it's your job to sheild those younger eyes from the dangers of the big bad world.

Smelly out.

As a female who has been playing for 25 years, seeing woman like Crow, KT, and who is Katie Melawhatever, doesn't inspire me to play guitar. They strum. My influences are Page, Zappa, EVH, Allman Bros., and so on. Wendy Melvoin is the only female player who rocks my world. It shouldn't take seeing a woman playing good guitar to inspire women to play. Regardless of sex, you either have the drive or you don't. And younger girls are taking lessons. I live right across the street from a guitar store (an EBMM dealer no less) and I see girls going in for lessons all the time over there.

Big Poppa Im sure youve seen the Dean booth at the NAMM shows, those guys have no marketing shame - I like to think an EB girl from northern cali will have more of a traditional look, like the old debate between maryanne and the movie star, I always liked maryanne -
