So, now that you have your BFR, would you buy the regular production version of your BFR guitar? Or are you so spoiled by your BFR that you wouldn't buy a regular JP or a regular Luke? :p:)

Rob,
I could see myself buying another Luke down the road. I'm probably in the minority but I actually prefer the original JP to the BFR version.

Right now I'm trying to cover all my bases tone-wise and once I get the 2 Axis SS's in, I'll just about be there. I'm planning on an AL in the LE '08 color for next year.

Once I have everything I "need" tonewise  then I'll start looking at guitars in LE and odd colors that appeal to me which will obviously duplicate some of what I already have.

It's a sickness I tell you. :D The ratio of talent to nice gear is certainly skewed in my case, but I really love these guitars... They inspire me to pick them up and play the hell out of them.

I'm kind of afraid that a BFR JP6 will make me not want to get a regular JP7 sometime down the road. We'll see. I may be like you, Fred, and I may just prefer to get the regular JPs. We'll see how much I like the BFR JP6.

I'm sort of in a "one of everything" situation myself. I'm also thinking AL for 2008 LE.

hey,

I'm also rather a regular JP fan then BFR. I love the scope and I also feel that in in minority here :) And I like Fred's idea about LE and colors. The same here, just take a look on my wish-list :) However I like BFR's top, which of course sucks, but I'm sticking to the regular JP :)

I think there is something like "regular JP". BFR F-1 is made from different woods and there are worth to be mentioned differences in body shape. So those are important differences between JP models in general. I don't know too much about Luke...

I would have to say I'm spoiled by the BFR, it get's all of my attention. I can transition easily between the BFR 6 and the Reg. 7. In terms of buying another reg. model I have to say I don't think so.....the BFR just sounds and plays better than I could have ever imagined. **Not bashing the reg model, I think it's great** I just feel more comfortable with the BFR, there's something about it that I love.

My BFR Luke sounds soooooo sweet that I was wondering about that myself...................but my AL is not a BFR and that thing sounds awesome too. Even Tommy thought the DD AL he played from Pete had the tone block. I'm sure alot of folks out there are wondering the same thing. It may come down to your spare change. I wouldn't hesitate buying a regular Luke. But if I had the mula, BFR all the way.

Man, if I won the lottery I'd buy at least 10 guitars...all of 'em would be Ernie Ball MusicMan JP's...some BFRs, some "regular"...oh and I would go to the NAMM to see and order new LE :)

BTW Colinboy, could you please show me/us your Bahama Blue? I was thinking about that finish before I decided to go for 2007 LE.

Well, as I have said before never picked up or played an EBMM model that was not fantastic (insert fanboy comment here) though not all models are meant for me personally, but while I would buy a non BFR model, I must say the BFR is in a class by itself, I have only had the Luke for a few days and all I can say is WOW,
GC is supposed to be getting a BFR JP in, and if it is a great as the BFR Luke, well my current JP will go on the market and Mr. DuBaldo will be getting a call.:D

I'll say I'm probably one of the few guys that was spoiled by the "regular JP's" instead... I have both a JP6 MD and a BFR, but i still love the unfinished neck. The luke's I can't say much on since I've yet to play with them. The BFR is a great guitar, love the sound and a really good feel, but you can't replace the unfinished neck. Now if only theres a way to order a BFR with the birdseye maple neck... I'd pay some serious cash for that!

MIke the question was directed at BFR owners Your answer is not appropriate.

I love my BFR Luke...best guitar I have ever touched. I would like more of them. Lots more.

But the BFR hasn't spoilt me so much that I'd never buy a "regular" Luke. I'd like to get a standard Luke because I can get the piezo option, and can get the guitar in a range of funky solid colours. And I'm told -- though not yet heard for myself -- that there are subtle tonal differences between the two. So it seems to me the best guitar to compliment my BFR Luke is a standard Luke.

What the BFR has done is spoilt me in terms of buying a guitar from just about any other manufacturer, the benchmark has been set.

I'd eventually like to get a couple of standard Lukes to gig with...because I'm still too scared to take the BFR out of the house! :D (Just give me time to build up to doing that! ;))

You got that right Mike, JPs and Lukes as they roll out of SLO are all a premium experience. Thanks.

Suggestion: 20th Anniversary Silhouette. :) It'll be a heck of a lot cheaper than a BFR. To get back on track, the 20th Ann. Silo is kind of the first BFR. To answer my own question, I haven't found that the 20th makes me uninterested in my Silo Special, but that's a different guitar entirely. I don't know how I'd feel about getting a regular Silhouette. I think that's the only EBMM guitar that I haven't tried yet unless you want to include the Silo Bass with the guitars. So, I'd have to try a regular Silo first.
