Not worth any sort of resources... think of what else you can buy for that money... consider the added costs for replacement parts... you'll probably get a new one ordered to specs

Whats done is done. There is a fine line between being creativity and being destructive. And I do believe that line was crossed. Experiments like this should only be conducted on those mass produced Chinese basses. :p

My plan of sorts is that if I have some extra cash lying around after christmas I will make him an offer, far from even the new asking price. I figure I can scrounge up the parts needed for a couple 100 and then I think it might be kind of fun trying to rescue it:)
But we'll see, I don't generally have money to spare and the guy probably thinks the asking price is real low as it is.
But just imagine routing away that hideous slap contour, glue in nw wood, trim, sand and refinish it, woo hoo:D
