I just bought an Axis on ebay...and I noticed that the gaps in the neck pocket were noticeable...I didn't think much of it until I was playing it and shifted the neck up and the guitar went completely out of tune...so I readjusted the neck and tightened the neck bolts...and it worked for a few minutes...then the neck shifted and went out of tune again...I took it to a tech and he suggested putting a shim in there to keep the neck from moving...I called EB and they told me that the guitar is not covered by warranty since I'm not the original owner...I really love this guitar and would like to get it to work without compromising the look of the guitar...The tech told me that the shim will be a natural wood color and will show...unless I paint over it...ugh...Is there a way that I can fix this without using a shim?

Another problem the guitar has is that there are hairline cracks where the neck and the body meet on both top and bottom...just in the paint...not the wood...I was contemplating possibly getting the body repainted...mo' problems...Is there a way to fix such cracks without having to repaint the whole body?

Besides these HUGE problems, it's a beautiful guitar...Honeyburst flame top...I guess that's why I'm so upset at the seller...cuz he ruined such a beautiful guitar...

You're probably asking why I didn't just return the guitar...Trust me...I tried...The bastard who sold it to me is long gone and won't answer any of my calls or emails...even though his auction had a 7 day return period...His ebay id is guitarsrgood818...I believe his real name is Levi Castleberry. If you see him on ebay...avoid him at all cost...

I don't know how many cracks there are at the neck pocket, but on EBMM guitars, those are a normal thing. They're called stress cracks, and they only involve the clear coat.

Even though the guitar isn't covered under warranty, customer service can help you. They should be able to send you some shims. Theirs are actually metal. You will have to pay for them.

My other guess is that the screwholes in the neck may need to be filled and re-drilled.

All is not lost.

I m sure Customer service told you they would help you just not for free, right?

I'd pack it up and let the Repairidise crew work their magic on it.
Their rates are reasonable and who better than EBMM to fix it right.
Bing bing bing ... we have a winner!

For a few extra bucks, call CS, send it to EBMM and let them fix it up. Quarter's right- you won't find better service or more reasonable bench rates anywhere.

Wow...you guys are the best! I'm new to this forum...I didn't expect to get this many replies...and so soon...

Just to let you know, the other reason for keeping this guitar is that...it's SUPER resonant! Even with the cracked paint on the neckpocket and having a loose slot, it's just far more resonant than other musicmans I owned. I had another Axis and also a EVH...and neither of them even come close to this one. It also has a very light body...and of course the beautiful honeyburst top...which goes back to why I'm so angry at that ignorant piece of **** that didn't take good care of it. I guess it's like seeing a super hot and nice girl that had an abusive boyfriend...hahaha...Well, I'm doing everything I can to bring this one back...I gotta...

Also, another note...This guitar was supposedly a custom order by DJ Ashba from Nikki Sixx's new band...who is endorsed by EBMM...maybe he's the one that abused it...^^ But who can trust words from a guy named Castleberry...?

I'd take a guitar over that any day of the week, and two guitars on Sundays (as long as they are EBMM).

Hello an welcome to this nice place,

1st forum rule: no pics, no guitar ! :D

would you like to share some pics with us?

Try the search function for "stress cracks" and you will find out that some of the guitars have it (not all) and that it´s only cosmetic. Don´t worry about it.

ok then allow me to amend my statement . . .

They can happen on any guitar. They do occur on EBMM guitars, though not often. It is not bad. It is only a crack in the clearcoat.

My God, you try to help someone, and the next thing you know, everyone's a critic. . . . .

Why are you mentioning God is such a way Tony?

Sorry Tony, just being a religious critic!! LOL For what it's worth, I understood what you meant about the neck crack. Let's just laugh about it and move on.
