How do you guys clean your fretboards? Mine is full of dirt, as in the pores on the fretboard have dirt in them. I tried lemon oil, and it got rid of the surface dirt and made the fretboard all smooth, but it just makes the dirt in the pores show up even more after a while, how can i get it out? it's really annoying me because it looks disgusting.

I'm gonna try some masking tape when i can get some, any other suggestions?
Cheers

I used to Pledge the fingerboard every string change. Now I just leave it be. I like to think of the dirt as "character".

from what you guys have seen, does dirty-board adversely affect re-sale?

Of course it does. If you're gonna sell a bass, clean the finger board. Wipe the dust from under the strings. Take decent pictures. If it's dusty and has a nasty fretboard, it's all the more reason for someone to pass it.

lol ... Yeah, I've sold a few Steve. Haven't sold an SR4 with a maple board, though, and mine's the only bass I've owned that got dirty-board over time, just because it's the only one I've had that doesn't have a finish of some sort on it.

What I was curious about specifically, was whether or not the overall demand, affinity & enthusiasm that abounds for EBMM basses overcomes some of the usual "concerns" with other bases, when it comes to things that might affect re-sale. Alot of EBMM owners, including myself, have a loving tolerance for purely cosmetic issues with these basses, because they sound and play so darn good. So I was just curious where "dirty-board" falls on that spectrum.

Anyone else got any thoughts on it?

I like my basses to look like new so i'd be more inclined to buy a bass that doesn't have a dirty board than one that does, but that's just me, hence why i want to get mine cleaner, just looks nicer.
