My Bongo had a rough life before I rescued her from a GC. The volume and blend pots were snapped off, and there is paint damage in some spots. I know getting a refinish is mighty expensive, so what else are my options? I'd like to do it myself, if possible. I'm thinking like some touch-up paint or something. Does EB sell anything like this?

EB does not sell any touch up paint. I think your best bet would actually be a sharpie or fingernail polish that somewhat matches. Personally, I just leave the bare wood showing and just put clear fingernail polish on it to keep the chip from spreading. :)

Ooo - and it's Desert Gold?

You MIGHT be able to find some automotive touch-up that's close.

Interesting... I thought I saw a Saturn (maybe) the other day that looked like Desert Gold. I remember reading a while back that someone thought alot of the colors EB uses were very similar to car finishes they've seen. I may have to check it out.

Oh, and I already did the clear nail polish thing, actually as soon as I got it I did that. It's worked well so far. Funny thing is, I like how old 'mojo'd' Fenders look, but having something like this on a Bongo just isn't the same.

The previous owner to my '88 SR4 put a clear coat over the bare wood where the finish had that he had rubbed off over years of playing on the top side of the body...looks odd to have a trans teal (now pacific ocean sea green) then to have natural wood all glossed over...I love that bass

i really do wish EBMM had a way for users to fix these kinds of things. seems to me that if people are this passionate about their EBMM basses, they'd want to keep them in as good condition as possible... and pay for the ability to do so.
