Take into account that a lot,not all, of posters at TB are just kids,I tend to cut them a little slack, and just ignore them. I'm mostly waiting on a date we can actually order a Sterling 5.

It is these reactions however that make other companies hide their prototypes. the linkbacks are being disabled on Monday. Too much noise.

The reason why the 20th anniversary neck is on it is because it has the sculpted neck joint.

As for the comment that we are lame for taking 1 1/2 years to slap a sr5 neck. THis is the reason why other companies dont announce their future plans...you wait until the namm show and that is when you see it...period

We came out with so many things in the last two years and the Sterling 5 had to wait in turn for all of the BFR, Bongo 6, Anniversary models etc.

Dont worry Im still going to show protos and let you know the future...I just hope people can understand the circumstances.

THink about it...Why are we being flamed for telling the buying public what is coming (so maybe they can plan their purchases) and showing them the work in progress? I dont understand. IF someone is thinkng about buying a Stingray 5 isnt this information making them a more informed customer? IF you were thinking of buying a new five string wouldnt you like to know that there was going to be another option and the the existing one was being returned to its original spec?

People don't like change. Or people are idiots. Maybe both.

BP,

I am glad you showed the prototype. I first saw it on TB and then came over here to join this forum as I own a Sterling and have a SUB 5 in the mail.

I am already saving for the Sterling 5 and planning on what color etc. to order.

Thanks.

It's great that we get the chance of a glimpse into the future...

...I think everyone who's just remotely bashing or even commenting on prototypes or possible prospective products is either jealous (because their so-loved-brand-x doesn't do it) or just plain stupid.

It's times like this that you need to step back, think about how dumb the average person is, then realize that half of them are even dumber than that.

People who don't think believe that basses are drawn one day, and in Guitar Center the next. Stuck in the woods with no internet, they'd die quickly.

I understand why it's so frustrating--you paradigm shift with the Bongo, and get mouthbreathers calling it a toilet seat. You take the SR5 home and release what a lot of people wanted (4 string pickguard shape and smaller body), and get skewered the other way.

Some of us get it, though. You are smart for not reading TB. A lot of noise to find the signal worth hearing.

I dont have an issue with TB I repeat. I also really want us to be able to make or defend our positions without name calling because that just makes it worse. Lets try to not use words like Idiots and stupid and stay with the facts.

I just put in the word to Pete that I want to be the first guy in AZ with one of these basses. Hopefully I'll be able to put in the order when he's at NAMM. I think I'm going to go with a black HH with maple. It will make a good companion with my pacific blue maple HS Sterling 4.

I can't wait!

1> Is it known yet what the available colors are going to be for the Sterling 5?

2> Will the Premium Natural option be available for it? I sent a question to Cust Svc last week to find out if this option is still available for the SR4, and exactly what it is. Sounds very nice - I was thinking of ordering an SR4 with that option (and maple neck), but now I'm thinking of switching the order to the Sterling5.

You sure you were never in the military, Jason?

BP, while we're at it, any new finishes going to be shown at NAMM (besides the 08 LE)?

I love Musicman basses.

The Sterling 5 reminds me of the S.U.B. 5, and thats a GOOD thing, the SUB 5's look awesome.

Jeez, I skip a couple days on the computer and look what I missed! The Sterling 5 looks awesome. I'm a crummy 5 string player, but I want one anyway since I am still ga-ga over the 4 I bought a year ago. I haven't read the TB thread, although I am on that forum a bit. Yes, there are always some interesting "viewpoints" over there. My .02 is that EBMM is very, very clever with respect to product changes, introductions, modifications and the like. Clever to make the HH and HS Sterlings not have parallel setting to retain the single's identity. Wise to inroduce their products first to their homeboyz on the forum. And thoughtful to make a pickup switch for the 'Ray fiver to draw a distinction between the Sterling basses and the Stingray basses. It's all good, I tell ya. Anyway, the bass looks smokin' and I am eager to see what colors will bring out the best in this beautiful instrument. Fine work. :)

I think its interesting to see these proto's evolve, its pretty hard to critisize if you havent touched the proto yourself so to speak, I like the fact that the pick ups will be different between the two makes alot of sense to me to seperate them that way.
