The other thread has been GASing for a normal axis again. I have an old EVH and have bought Axis Super Sports ever since.

My question is, on Axis guitars with floyds, how do you remove the arm these days? I rarely use a hard case. Just gig bags, so I'm wondering if removing the arm is a chore. It was a chore on the EVH's.

I leave mine on. It's a bear to remove the back cover, get the allen wrench, and unscrew it. Plus loosening the locking collar. Though I have thought about getting the trem cavity cover with the access door. That would simplify matters.

I know of a couple of people who have changed out the MM collar for the bolt down version.

Protect your investment, purchase an EB hardshell case that is fabricated to accomodate the bar. EB really provide excellent quality cases that are insulated for cold weather transportation.

The cutaway in the case really makes taking the trem arm off a non-issue.

The only time I've seen problems is when someone left the trem arm on, and used a non-EBMM case to store it in. It pushed the trem down (dive) when it was in the case. It actually messed up the FLoyd posts over time.

I pretty much always use gig bags. I don't have a car, so I pretty much have to take everything on the subway or bus.
