It looks to me like they just barely get away with this chicanery because of the headstock/tuner arrangement.

I almost said "design" but that's over the line for these cheap knock-offs.

The pic in the link shows the 5 string, but the four string is a 3+1, I thought that was a no-no.

the four string is a 2-2, i had one as a beginner I now know the error of my ways.

I held one in my hands yesterday, it was 3+1. It was a real sloppy imitation of the Stingray, from the pickguard to the bridge, to the tuners.

I think they finally are phasing out the headstock design ripoff and are coming up with their own arrangements of tuning keys.... the looks of which disturb me.... deeply. Looks like a bass with conjoined twin myslexia.

So I did try one of these in my Fireplace and I don't even think they're made of real wood.
