Playing two basses or input selectors

Very soon I will get my other bass (what a pity EBMM doesn't make basses with small neck radius for bowing). So I'll need to play both instruments but use the same effect pedals.
What is the best way to commutate two basses with different output? May be small mixer?
I thought about Radial Bassbone but was told that the thing affects the sound in wrong way and costs too much. EBS microbass is even more expensive and is more 1-bass preamp with two channels then 2-bass preamp.
Can anyone help me with this problem? I'm little bit short in money after ordering a new bass, so two-channel bass amp is not the best solve of my problem.

I think Boss do a low priced selector which would work for this.

When you talk about different outputs, do you mean that your other bass will be passive? you may need a small buffer to pug into before you hit the effects with your new bass, otherwise you might find that they sound very different than when used with your EBMM.

Jimmyb, I know about boss selector, but it is made for choosing the amp or effect line, not the instrument.
My other bass is not passive, it has EMG & piezo with buffer but no eq onboard.

Actually, the Boss AB-2 can be used to either select two outputs, or two inputs. I've used it myself in the past. You connect your two basses to the two jacks and then the single jack goes out to your amp (or effects if you are using them before your amp.

I've used the combination of my Boss TU-2 (to mute when swapping the cable from one bass to the other) and my BBE Boosta-Grande (clean boost pedal to compensate for whichever bass has less output).

and what about small mixer like behringer XENYX 502? It costs less than boosters

The only thing I would be concerned about with a cheap mixer is the cheap preamps that they have in them. I don't know anything about Behringer specifically.

Many amps have a padded input and a normal input channels. You should play around with that if it has it.

My different basses have different outputs...
I simply don't use the volume knobs wide open on my MM's, and that makes it easy from switching to a passive bass into the same channel on the amp.
Then I have even hotter actives, which I use the padded input channel on my amp.

I usually just use the mute button on my Ashdown, unplug and plug in again if I am swapping between my SR4 and SR5.
Gives the singer chance to tell a joke...

roballanson, I could do it too, but I'll need both instruments during one song. Also I want to make my own balance between two basses, I'll never let any soundman do it. Our second bassist will have almost the same problem very soon with his Warr Guitar...

can you please explain me how to use LS-2 as input selector?

its on the boss website,do a search.but all i do is plug in two basses in one side plug the other side into the amp and use the pedal to switch between the two.you have level controls for each bass on the pedal so you dont have to worry about passive or active. very basic explanation
