Compressed Air

Does anybody else keep a can of this stuff handy at all times?

I use it for everything.. guitars, pedals, computers, and it's even fun to spray at people when they least expect it.

I used to get annoyed at dust that would collect under the strings between pickups and under the saddles on bridges, but it's easily taken care of with a couple of sprays of air.

I just want to make sure I'm not too crazy about this stuff.

That used to piss me off as well, good idea to blast the area with the compressed air.

I used it on my POD XT as the previous owner I think had a cat and there was an animal hair that somehow got under the screen on the POD XT. Everytime I messed w. a preset the hair would get in the way so I wedged the nozzle of the compressed air near the edge of the screen and blasted it and it worked.

it's a bit tough on the finish, however.

i used compressed air at work everyday.. but at a much greater pressure than the canned stuff..
i use the canned air on my computers.. havnt used it on my guitars yet.. but more than likely would have if i needed to..

I'd be afraid of some of the liquid coming out and freezing/cracking the finish. But on all my electronic stuff its great.

As long as its upright should be fine. If you turn it upsidedown and let the liquid run out on to a coin for a few seconds, you can easily smash the coin into pieces with a light tap with something hard.

A small electric compressor is handy to have around too, those cans add up quick.

I used to use it ALL time on guitar repairs. Every time I used steel wool on a frett board, minor routing, drilling new holes... I wouldn't worry about it damaging an EB finish. The only ones you gotta look out for are those nitro finishes.

I keep a can of compressed air in my toolbox, I use it for blowing the little bits of wire and whatever else out of a completed electronic project before closing up the chassis and powering it on.

I never thought about using it to clean around the bridge and pickups of a guitar, that's a great idea.

That's how Gibson does the relics I've heard - Turn the can upside down, spray the finish, and then hit it with a heat gun!
