Humph! I'd be there but I'm not interested in pulling flappy old man strings. :D Are we skinny stringers not alllowed? We'll be good............honest!

I reckon the North West of England is looking good at the moment, puppy's from Manc (Bolton?) I'm from Cheshire, Big Tony (skinny stringer) is from Liverpool, Saxnbass is currently in Leeds and I'm sure there's a bass player from Stockport (sorry, I've completely forgotten who, my bad).

Come to the North West, it's great!

(I reckon that could be a good marketing slogan there....)

hey! good idea

I'm inviting you all to Belarus! And don't forget to bring your basses with you. At least one each. :)

Most of them will be confiscated at the border and then I will buy them cheap from local shops where they sell such kind of stuff.

Yeah! Good idea...but not for those behind the Iron Curtain

Damit!

Don't know about that, I was in Skopje, Macedonia (yeah ok if there are any greeks here, just relax, let's not get into that...) last fall, and there were no problems whatsoever in customs. Flew with a bongo 5 no problem.
SO if we need eastern europe I'm all for Skopje, damn fun place and great musicians, and for those form other parts of the worls: You simply won't believe how far your dollars or euros will last:D

hey guys lets not let this drop, its a great idea. It will take just one or two people to organise it, therefore will prob end up being held where they are from. So if you want to start the ball rolling and think you can organise the event then shout out. I am up for helping out with anything at all, but Ireland is really expensive so it may not be the place to do it.

Any ideas people ! can we use the last EB bash as a template,BBQ....Drinks....something on Saturday (maybe golf.....maybe not :D )
gig Saturday night...I don't really know I wasn't there so I don't know how it runs.

Also we would need to start thinking about a date so we have enough time to sort it out.If anybody has already started to orgainse it great, let me know and i will shut up :D

I was thinking about this last night whilst dropping off to sleep. Ok, I'm strange like that....

If it's going to work, I think we would need help from someone, maybe a store, maybe an importer, to get things going. Cost would be an issue, unless someone has an area, be it a hall, or a conference room etc, where we could all go to for free. The alternative would be that we'd have to charge, in order for us to cover the costs of hire etc.

There's also the issue of backline to think about. A room full of people all playing un-amplified bass' and guitars, whilst being very neighbour friendly :D probably wouldn't satisfy us that much. Then we'd also need to get a drummer (or two) on board.

Accomadation needs to be considered as well, it's no good having it in some remote space where there's nowhere for people to stay. Plus it might be worth having it somewhere that is 'family friendly' (ok, so that's a selfish thing on my account, but there's no way I'd be able to go and leave them at home).

Hey, if we have it in the North West UK, we might be able to get Jack to come along (I know this great little Thai restaurant ;))

It would be cool if we could get a store involved. The only problem with that, as far as I can see anyway, would be that it would have to be beneficial to them as well (hey, these guys have to make money as well) So it might not be a viable proposition financially.

However, maybe if it was a combined thing with several distributors/stores, then it would become more of a possibility?

Again though, the problem becomes, if a German distributor is covering the costs, then they would, quite rightly, want it to be in Germany and so on.

Anyway, I do think that it's a good idea and I'll help as much as I'm able to.

Thanks Jimmyb. This sounds like a great opportunity for a get-together. I just hope I don't have a weekend of gigs planned because I really like the sound of this.

Btw, are we forgetting that Liverpool is the Capital of Culture for 2008?

Other than that, Im happy to head off to anywhere. I've never been to Amsterdam. To be honest, I've not been to many places!

Lots of live music venues too.

Well, if y'all care to come to sweden we do have this nice rehearsal place where it's possible to have a small show of sorts, as long as the audience isn't bigger than maybe 50:)
It's a great place, lots of amps, good PA, several drum kits, drummers won't be a problem, and accomodation can be found cheap (well below 50 euro/night) not too far away.
Thinking about it, yeah I think I'd be able to pull it off, I'll get help from the other swedish forum member, or is it members:p

Having the GTG in Sweden...
Thinking about it, I realize it's actually a good idea!
Flying here is cheap, I got a good place to play at, there is accomodation at all price levels and let's talk to Hellboy to maybe record some crazy bass symphony too:D
I think that sponsoring is out of the question, but having said that I think EBS might show up with some amps if we ask nicely, and maybe the Scandinavian distributor for EBMM would like to come on board one way or the other too.

Damn, I'm getting ready to organize this, what do you all say? Sweden, spring time, sounds good?

I got engaged in Stockholm. It was March 2006 and jolly cold as well!

Anyway, putting that to the back of my mind, I'd be interested in in going there again (as long as it isn't as cold as last time, brrr)

If the rehearsal/show venue is foc, that would be a great help in terms of financing the whole thing. It would be great if the distributors turned up with loads of EBMM's for us to drool over.

Jimmy, rehearsals is indoors, and we do have central heating:D
But if we plan this for May or something, the weather will also be nice.
yes the place is FOC, and I think that is a key to try to convince distributors to show up. I mean they can probably spare some time for us, or at least i hope so:)
