Ooops... sorry if I offeded someone....

It was just a topic to discuss about tastes on a change of feature... This inlay is not my cup of tea, but in no way it makes the JP model a less wonderful instrument (I have 2 ;) )

Does someone know the reason they changed from 2005/6 to the new inlay in 2007...

By the way for those with a 2007 LE... is "200x Limited edition" still written on the back of the guitar near the neck plate like on my 2005 buttercream or not??

I'm curious as to this as well, although I'm guessing no?

If I had to guess I'd say it's the reason Pete DuBaldo wrote: Easy way to avoid confusion with the earlier Blue Dawns.

On the other hand, maybe it's just because they liked it that way :)

I love the inlays. I know its gonna be like hearing a song and rememberin what you were doing when that one came out.

Y'know, 'ooh I remember that one, wasn't that one nicknamed the stankyburst... ' I think each of them is gonna have thier own little story to tell.

From the photos I wasn't sure I was going to like the inlay, but after seeing it in person I do like it. I think Pete is dead on - it was definitely needed for 2007 to differentiate the LEs from the earlier production runs.

I guess I'm the other way - I think the inlay is nicer than the decal they used to put on the back of them, particularly the oxblood color decal on the 2005 Buttercream LEs.

However, one man's meat is another man's poison, so it's just my opinion. They're all good.;)

Well, however they do it, at least you have a zillion other regular order options if you don't like the LE scheme.

Exactly.

I'm personally not super keen on signature gear or fancy tops etc, and thankfully there's still models for me to choose from. If you can't find what makes you happy in the MM line, well, happy hunting elsewhere.

The inlays are nicely contructed and the craftsmanship of them is something to appreciate, plus they give more value to the upcharge for the LE colors, IMO.

In other words, I wouldn't pay extra just to get a different color, but the inlay makes it worth it to me.

I thought the 2007 LE inlay was a great idea for the Blue Dawn, so that it would avoid confusion with the previous run a few years back. I wonder what 2009 will bring! :)

This is exactly what I was thinking. Good Sir you have crystallized my thoughts eloquently. :)

NorM, we didn't do our "Torture NorM" pose, I'm so bummed! I got sidetracked from being sidetracked from being sidetracked from being interrupted from my meeting. :(

I suspect that the 2007 inlay was done, because Blue Dawn was previously a regular production color. Again, the inlay differentiates the two very quickly.

There is no "Limited Edition" screen on the back of the 2007 LE.

I think what Pete says is right - the inlay does keep it apart from the initial "normal" run.
I have a LE guitar and that has "Limited Edition 2006" on the back of the guitar under the base coat and that would be my preference for future LE's.
Indeed BP can't satisfy all punters.
I like black guitars - not everybody likes black guitars
I love AL guitars - not everybody likes the shape
I like MM trems - not everybody likes trems
I like natural headstocks - not everybody likes nat h/s

We will all beg to differ on details such as these and the inlay is no different , the only difference is of course all the above are options.

So Spud takes a deep breathe and in the boardroom he says " Umm BP - what would be the likelihood of making this yet another option?"

... and what about the BFR inlays he says ducking !!!

I like the idea of the inlay - it does add something to the LE model IMO. No more or less that a decal on the back or headstock in some respects but it marks the guitar as something special, certainly. However, I don't like the styling of the 2007 inlay. Actually, I don't like blue dawn either but that's OK, 'cause the LEs are just that; Limited Editions. They are what they are and you take 'em or leave 'em.

Personally I don't think there should be ANY options on them, even not available in some models some years. Perhaps only available in maple boards one year and rosewood boards another, for example. Non-matching headstock and piezo only another year? The LEs should be special and they should reflect the feelings and moods of the team at the time they are done. They should say "this is what the team would like to offer you this year". That's what makes them special.

Hm. I thought the inlay looked cool on the 2007, because it has something modern and technical to it, which I'd also associate with the blue dawn colour scheme. However, for the 2008 stankyburst, which has a cool retro vibe to me, I'd prefer no special inlay.

Personally, I love the inlay. The only thing I petition for is that the 08 LE Silo be available with piezo. Not complaining though, they haven't lost me as a customer-soon-to-be. Beth, is there any particular reason why there is no piezo offered? Just out of curiosity? Does it have something to do with the cutting down of options, so that more guitars can get out to more people within the LE window?
