I wasn't even excited, much, when the game came on. The Giants made it to the Superbowl (the Cowboys didn't) and that was really going to be enough for me. The way the Pats played all year, it just seemed impossible that they wouldn't be prepared, that they wouldn't have the engine tuned to perfection and - they would win.

As they say, that's why they go ahead and play the game.

The Giants defense were awesome. Manning played well, the Helmet Catch (and Eli's escape from the blitz) were maybe the play of the year. Can you say 'upset'?

We had a small get-together. John (strangeglow), Larry (mobay) and Katt (Katt) came from far and wide and we grilled sausage and Erika made some Peruvian-style snacks. Chuck Rainey was coming but had a family emergency at the last minute; he did drop off my extra LMII early in the afternoon and I made him wear my Giants hat for a photo (Chuck's a HUGE Cowboys fan). He did get to watch the 4th quarter. I called him after the game and he said, "Puff out your chest and talk some sh!t." I said, "That's why I called YOU!"

It's still not really sinking in that the Giants derailed the much-discussed 'perfect season' and won the Super Bowl!

The "Helmet Catch" and the "Great Escape" were definitely the plays of the game. It was a great show. I haven't been this happy for them since, well ...my Ravens whoopping them in 2001 :p:D Sorry I couldn't resist:rolleyes:

Funny, everyone knows that everyone does it. It was just them that got caught.

I think other teams try to steal signals, but I don't think most of them are arrogant enough to do it with a video camera. Especially after they (the Pats) were warned last year by at least two other teams that caught them doing the same thing. I'm not a Giants fan at all (though I hate them much less than I hate the Cowboys and the Redskins), but the Super Bowl was all about karmic retribution. The Pats cheated, they got caught, so they vindictively decided it was every other team's fault and chose to run up the score at every opportunity. They were lucky to make it through the season relatively injury-free, and they won the few close games when they were tested, including one (the MNF game against Baltimore) that they had no business winning. They are a great team, and 18-1 is an amazing season, but the arrogance of that team and (many of) their fans was hard to take.

The positive I take from the Super Bowl is that for much of the season, the Giants were not that good. They beat my Eagles twice, but the second time was by three points when a last-second game-tying field goal doinked off the upright. Their coach has been on the verge of getting fired several times in the past two years. They got hot at the right time, and now they're on top. That gives hope to all those other mediocre teams out there, especially in the NFC, which appeared to be a big cut below the AFC this year (and for the past few years).

Go Eagles!
