Rosewood/Maple tone

Thanks guys for all your replies, really appreciate it. Black Black with Maple it is.... now I have to find one.
A guy in my local guitar store says that EBMM have "color seasons" for example, April until June they'll be white and from July until September they'll be black is that true. I really want a B/B/M

If it is whens the next black season ???

Man, try and get one used, you'll save so much money, even more so in the UK but ya know, you guys get them for peanuts anyway. Depends how much money you want to save, used is good if you're tight fisted like me, but i love having something brand new in my hands. I've had 5 basses and one guitar, and the guitar was the only new instrument i've ever owned haha. I saved a lot of money on some of my other stuff though, a LOT of money.

I can hear the difference (playing alone), but its not that big of deal. I think what makes seem bigger is how it feels and responds in your hands. Once you add in the the coloration of the amp and it sitting in the mix etc etc. ..... I don't think anyone can tell.

Club Bass has an HH SR5 with a matching black headstock.

Otherwise, you could give Steve's a try or one of the Long & McQuade's.

Went to Long & Mcquade they told me the only B/B/M they in stock is all the way in Vancouver, I live in Toronto.... Went to Steves in downtown didn't have any B/B/M
I play 4 sting basses, and looking for single humbucker...

I live in Toronto, and I've never played a Stingray with a maple board....
I was wondering if someone can post soundclips. If someone has a maple and rosewood stingray, can you please play the same thing on each bass so I can compare.

Anyone know if the sound is significantly different ????

If you Can't hear The Difference Then you Probably can get whatever looks the Best, But if you can't hear the Difference then I'd save your money and keep Practicing.

Steve's also transfers between its Montreal and Ottawa locations. You should ask if they have any there. If they do, they can have it sent to Toronto within a week.

If you buy it from Steve's in Montreal and you live in Toronto, you don't pay PST - only GST - and you may be able to negotiate shipping right to your home at no cost.

I can usually hear the difference between a maple and rosewood board.

I should add that the type of music being played helps tremendously in discerning which is which. For instance, slap and pop can really bring out the differences in tonality of the two different fretboard woods. Also, the type of strings, etc. etc.

Hell, I don't know.

I notice that maple fretboards are much lighter in color than the rosewood fretboards.

I hope it's not just me.
