JP6 users: What were you playing. . .

Ibanez RG550. It was an easy and productive switch to the JP.

They are fun guitars, and I still have mine. I swapped out the singles for HS-2 and HS-3, and the bridge is a Steve's Special. The original tremolo died because I beat on it too much, so that has been replaced, too. The JP is my number one for sure (although I'm playing the Dargie LUKE tonight because I broke the high E on both my JPs).

I haven't broken a string in years, what'd you do to them, Pete? I'll take the Dargie JP7 if you can't handle it.

my main axes were an amber flamed axis and my JS rainforest. i sold the axis (regretted that till about 2 weeks ago when i got my pacific blue burst upgrade topped axis!) to buy a JP. ended up using the funds on my house so i got an ASS MM90 with piezo. upgraded the bridge pup with a steve's special humbucker in a P90 housing. had that for a year or so and now Mesadualrec has it.

during that time though, i got my fully loaded JP6 in mystic dream. amazing machine. so now my 2 main gigging guitars are my JP6 and my Pacific Blue Burst Axis.

they are astounding guitars!!!

The oils in my fingers are pretty nasty, I can trash a set of strings in about 45 minutes to 2 hours. These strings had been on for at least 6 hours, and I was playing the second solo in "Cult of Personality" and at 3:27 I tried to do a 3 1/2 step bend with the bar... twice, once with each JP




PS they are 6 stringers, no Dargie JP7 here

I used to play on Jackson RR3 Japan Custom. It was cool, but since I took up EBMM there is no other way to go. Ball all the way!

I played a Philippine made strat copy which i picked up for roughly $100 when I was going to school there. Laugh if you will (why wouldn't you) but it had, and has, a certain something about it that prompted me to hang on to it and bring it back with me. I still have it, though I had to replace the neck. Since then, all EBMM with the majority being the JP.

65 bucks at 2006 overstock.com 12 days of christmas. haha.. funny little guitar. Gave it away.

before that, 10 years with my les paul copy which cost only slightly more. It's pretty much unplayable now.. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I played an Ibanez Pro Line PL2550 from 1986 for many years before switching to a 57 reissue Strat and then a Custom Shop Strat. Got my first EBMM Luke a couple of years ago which led to EBMM GAS in a major way. Got my Dargie JP6 last year and like it a lot now, although I'd say my favourite EB model is the Luke.

Mahogany body F*nder American Special with the Trem screwed down (artificial hardtail); It's a nice guitar, but....it has a layer of dust that began to collect after the JP6 arrived!

I had a U.S. G&L Invader XL, Gibson Les Paul Studio, and my Axis. I played all of them about equally. I no longer have the G&L or Gibson but I do still have the Axis. I haven't played a show with anything but my JP since I got it. I still love the Axis, but the JP suits me better.

Many Terry McInturffs, have had a couple of PRS, couple of Les Pauls, couple of strats, even had an Axis. First time I put a JP in my hands, that was it. All I have now is a JP6 and a JP7.

Before I got my EBMM JP7, I was playing a '79 Les Paul Custom and '96 American Strat SSS. The great thing about my JP7 is that it's got great thick humbucking tone with nice glassy split coils. In addition, I went with the piezo option which creates a versatile monster. This is my primary guitar live and for recording.

I do use the Strat for clean stuff, plus it's fitted with the GK-3 p/u for my GR-20 synth. Strangely enough, I use the Les Paul for drop D stuff (in spite of access to 7 strings on the JP) - primarily because of fingering preference for those type songs.

hm before my Jp's it was ALOT of Ibanez's, i had shall we say, quite a few!
J Custom 7 String and A Custom shop model made for Andy Timmons amongst a lot of others! most of which are gone now! the JPS had everything i wanted , NON locking trem on a 7 string was the main point.

i was playing a dlx am strat and a lp std. the strat had like... no tone whatsoever... traded it in for a hiwatt.

here's the kicker: i'm ditching the JP6. why? from my second guitar onward i've had nothing but thin necks till de LP. and you know what? they suck for me!
and since everything gets compared to the LP these days, the JP6 just didn't deliver the tone. that's why i'm not ordering an Y2D either. both are signature guitars with lowered pickups. but i'm not that kinda guy.

so, hopefully i'll be a few hundred euros and a JP6 poorer but will be taking a 20th silo home with me =)

and in a few months my mm90 ASS will be here too

In addition to my 2008 Desert Gold Petrucci 7, I also own a Walnut 2000 Ibanez S520, a Black Cherry 1997 Ibanez SC420, and a 1998 Taylor 312-CE. I've owned many other Ibanez guitars and various acoustics over the years. After owning this Petrucci 7 for the last few weeks, I'm really considering getting rid of my two Ibanezes and picking up another Music Man.

In addition to my JP6, I also switch between a Parker P44 (all wood, no carbon fiber, great neck profile almost the same as the JP) or my Axis Sport which is actually my best over all sounding gtr. (I wish it had a piezo)
