I decided today that rather than feeling frustrated (like I had been) about having bought a 30th JUST before this gorgeous BFR was unveiled at NAMM, I'd just go ahead and rectify the situation. So I put a deposit on one today.

I love the 30th, but for my tastes & fetishes, the Redwood BFR is where it's at. An SR4 with a top that sucks that massively ... is just something I can't pass on. And I'm sure the tonal versatility of the HH R/W BFR is going to be as great as the 20th SR5 HH, which I had been considering seriously, primarily for that reason, combined with the Mahog. tone block.

So the combo of the Stealth B5 that'll arrive tomorrow & the R/W BFR (whenever it arrives) is going to square me away for quite a while (I have a contract to that effect with my wife, signed in blood). I anticipate the Bongo5 being the daily player, but the R/W BFR will most definitely not just sit there looking pretty all the time.

So crazy as it sounds, I'll probably be selling the 30th, though it's an incredible instrument. Had I known the R/W BFR SR4 was coming, I would've held off on the 30th. But that was a VERY well kept secret, wasn't it?? I wasn't expecting that at all, when the pics started rolling in from NAMM. When I saw the first pic, I said out loud, "ohh ****". And my wife said "uh-oh ... what?". :D

Edit: Lesson learned: don't buy a bass the week before NAMM.

Later,

Gotta keep that red theme going, hey Robert? :)

Seriously, that BFR did look awesome, and if I won lotto (or sold 5 or 6 basses) I'd be on it for sure.

Robert, Robert, Robert... what should I say... couldn't you have waited just a bit? :p

What else: Congrats to the decision.

Ahh .... No!

Hey, I see a pattern developing here - what the hell am I doing up so late, talking to you from opposite ends of "the pond"?? Since I joined the forum, I've been rolling in to work a little later, on average. I was already a night owl, but this is getting ridiculous.

You're a sick man ;) I love it!!!

If you can, hang on to that 30th. 5 years from now the money won't have mattered and you'll still have one of the best Stingrays ever built by B.P.

I can't wait to see pics. When will you take delivery?

Ps - Two Band Single H? Oh my!

I've a number of bites on the BFR Redwoods, they are going to be spectacular and extremely rare. Nice job on getting in early

Too bad there won't be a BFR Sterling. I'd be all over it. But, I might just order a BFR Ray' anyway, cause it's so purty.
