Well tonight I re-wired my Y2D and put in a Silent Circuit, 9V battery and new output jack (so the battery's off when the plug is pulled).
The single coil is now substantially quieter. Also the tone control on this guitar is wired to split the bridge humbucker as you dial it back. The Silent Circuit is wired to that too, so it's noise-free all the way from humbucking mode to single coil mode.
I love the split bridge and single in this guitar (and the Morse) but always found them too noisy. (I like a good crunch tone and the hum gets pretty loud). But this kills most of the noise and I think I'm pretty happy with 'er
