I was wondering when the Ernie Ball strap locks for musicman basses are going to be available? Also, is it possible to just buy a pickup cover for a humbucker and just install it? Because my stingray doesn't have a pickup cover and I want one. Thanks! =)

Strap Locks: Don't know, but until they are available, I'd recommend Dunlop Dual Design over Schaller.

Pickup Cover: Call EBMM Customer Service.

Not sure what you mean by p/u cover. Can you give a further explanation?

I guess I'm asking because I'm wondering why someone took the original one off.

And i use dunlop straplocks, they do the job, i was going to wait for the EB ones to come out but i couldn't wait that long as my SUB has already fallen off the strap once (i caught it however).

And pickup cover? why is it missing one?

Thanks everyone for the help so far!

About the pickup cover, I mean I want a cover that goes over the magnets on my pickup, I've seen them around before and thought they were cool.

And about the straplocks, are the ones mentioned able to be installed without adjustment, like the EB ones supposably will be.

The factory StingRay plastic cover has always shown the magnets.

What you probably saw was a replacement pickup like a Bartolini (yuk ack barf cough cough) that is just a solid cover with no exposed magnets showing.

-1 on the Dunlops over Schallers. My experience is opposite of yours I suppose. I, too am awaiting the MM locks, though.

I disagree. I had the Schallers and the the "horse shoe" things kept spinning in my strap when I would play so that the open end was down and the lock would fail, causing my bass to drop. Thankfully, both times I caught it before it hit the ground.

I have used the Schallers on all of my basses for years and have had no issues. The key is to tighten the nuts very well and I use a dab of low strength Loctite to keep them from loosening.

Well, after my bass fell the first time, I tightened them with a wrench on the nut and pliers on the "horse shoe" as tight as I could get them and the same thing happened a week later. To me, the price of a new set of Dunlops was worth not having to worry about constantly checking on them or messing around with Loctite. I've never had a problem with the Dunlops and I'm looking forward to the EBMMs when they come out...they'll probably go on my Bongo.

The Sabre had them, but that's about it, they would probably fit, have a look for one. I'd just google or ebay it though because EB don't make them anymore. There may be some aftermarket parts available on ebay.

Exactly same experience here. They always came loose. And after a couple of years the plating will start to peel off.

The Dunlops cannot come loose because the piece in the strap is held in position by a very strong spring. Also, the Dunlops are better when you don't have a strap with matching locks available.

That said though, i ordered some dunlops the other day and one of the locks broke the very same day. The push button in the centre came out along with the spring and ball bearings. First time i've had them break (though it was only my second set) but the place i bought them from sent a new one straight out and now it's all fine, though it's left me a little paranoid it has to be said.

Nope, that's why I only said StingRay in my post. The Sabre pickups are smaller and won't fit.
