Purple EVHs

I have been looking for a clean purple EVH for a while. Please ignore my ignorance here, I am just trying to figure out why alot of the purple EVH guitars have a nasty grey hue to them? Not really very pruple...it is like the pigment got up and walked away?

Can anyone please elaborate?

The EVH's tend to fade. However, I think they solved this problem with the Axis.

I am curious as to what caused them to fade? Was it a bad run of stain or something along those lines?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was a lack of UV protection in the dye in the original first run of the EVH.

I think the faded ones look great!! - especially the black ones.

I'm jonesin' after a faded black hardtail !!!
