Musicman from the past and new Musicman

i love musicman guitar.

i post 2 pics of my guitars, 1 sabre2 and 1 petrucci bfr. 30 years separate these guitars, and the quality is always present. thanx a lot musicman!

I have never really seen to many of the Sabres. What's with all the switches?

They both look great by the way. That Sabre looks brand new!

the sabre 2 has got 2 active pickups, very great sound, loud for big rock songs. wonderful for the blues, this guitar has got something of the best stratocaster and the louder of some gibson lespaul.....

the neck is hard to play because very big! you must looking for the notes, the bfr is much more easy

the switches are : 1 for phase inversion, and the other a sort of filter (confirm me....poppa?)

3 pots: 1 for volume, 1 for treble, 1 for bass. and main switch for 3 selections

sometimes there are some vintage musicman on ebay, like sabre1, 2 stingray.....and it doesn't cost a lot.....they kill vintage guitare much more expensive....

mine comes form a collection, i bought it to a collection man few years ago, for not a a lot of money. I don't regreat

I'm not BP but I think you're right that the second switch is some type of filter that either boosts treble or cuts bass to function as an "active electronics" coil split.

I don't know if EB got the schematics for the old Musicman guitars; I think that the original company had discontinued the guitars and was only selling basses (and the full amp line of course) for the last year or so before they went bankrupt.

It's also on the neckplates of all slightly older MMs (my 97 Silo special has it)

I never noticed how the EBMM headstock is the same shape as the old MM headstock, just shorter because of the 4+2 configuration. Very cool.

I have an old Musicman 65 head and it's a nice amp, but I've never had the opportunity to play one of the old guitars.

Leo looks more like an Engineer than a guitar maker.

Not that there is anything wrong with that. Some of my best friends are Electrical Engineers.... myself included.
