It got here yesterday. As I said in another thread .... WOW. What great tone this thing has & what a joy it is to play. I played it a bit lastnight (of course) & have been playing it non-stop today. So much more productive and fun playing it at home/on my rig, than at GC.
I think I can already say it's my new go-to for finger-style, but I haven't found my groove slapping on it yet. Partially because I haven't played a 5 in a long time, and have been free to be as slap-happy as I wanted to be on the E. I'll have to re-hone my technique to keep the B quiet. The 2nd thing is that this is my first HH, and I'll have to find the best hand position from which I can <a> get a good clean slap tone with the thumb, while <b> not having to put attention on staying clear of the neck pickup with my index/popping finger. Either that, or I just use this bass primarily for finger style playing, and go to old reliable fat-mouth-meany (SR4) for slap stuff, which is probably the way it'll evolve. Just feels right.
How many Bongo HH players among us who play slap on 'em? Did you find that you had to adapt to it at first, too?
