Well, stupid story, will you probably think.

A couple of days ago, I was offered a deal : trading my beloved Laila (SR5) for a mint 5-string active MIA and now discontinued bass from some very famous manufacturer.

I have been GASing for this model for years, but on the other hand I'm severely addicted to EBMMs (and most specifically with my SR5).

I wish to be quite honest : I was about to finalize the deal.

Five minutes ago (thus the title of this topic), I had to work on a couple of tracks for the next rehearsal. I took Laila out of her case, put my hands on her, and guess what ? Thinking it was about to go, I started to cry.

Lesson learned. One can get parted with a bass for another he wants so bad. But you don't get parted with a bass you love that much, no matter what the reason or purpose is. At least for me.

Cheers guys !

PS. I anyway wouldn't have left the EBMM club, since I'm currently saving for an SR4. But hey.

HALT!...as official member of the Man Police ASSociation (MPASS), I hereby revoke your MAN CARD privliges for the period of ONE WEEK! Now...go see a chick flick, then attend an opera, then buy yourself a box of truffles and some roses and I'll think about reinstating your MAN CARD early!
...by the way...I don't think it's stupid! Only a true MM fan can cry over the loss of their dearly beloved instrument.
That said... RULES ARE RULES...HAND OVER THE MAN CARD!:D

...so you passed on the AM DLX Pbass 5er? That's a tough one, since I own that very bass, just different color and headstock (not a 4+1) You have to go with your gut on this one. I have been tempted to let go of my Fender, but have always changed my mind. ;)

Yeah I passed on it. That was _anything_ but a no-brainer. Torture inside my mind. But love was stronger, and I couldn't resolve myself to let my SR5 go. Even a 49 year-old (+ 2 days) like me can cry like a [add what you want] in such situations.

You know, I think I told you earlier that I of all people understand what GAS for something can do to you, and I wouldn't have said one thing if you'd made the trade.

But I'm glad you changed your mind.

I traded my American Deluxe Fender Precision for my very first StingRay.

I remember going into my local Sam Ash and pulling the P-bass out of its case and saying that I wanted to trade it. Here's how it went down.

Sam Ash guy: "this is beautiful, are you sure you want to trade this?"

Me: "yeah, I really want to get that black StingRay hanging up there"

Sam ash guy: "Oh ok, that makes sense then"

Moral of the story, EBMM>Fender

all feelings are valid

Hey Jayle,

I empathize since a year ago, I did the opposite and finished my deal by taking delivery of my latest SR5 on trade with my ex-MIAJ5 ALSO MINT and verypretty, BUT leftover from an insurance swap when my previous got ripped off ... in my case, I never did fall in love with the J5 and I fell down ill a few short weeks after receiving the new SR5 and didn't get much chance to play with her, but, she waits for me now and then we're together for everrmore even after I soften up and give in to a brand spankers '07 LE BONGO5 that waits for me to start wiggling fingers again:)I don't miss the J5 one little bit, no matter how pretty she was!
All The Bass,
/PL:)
