Just about to order my Bongo 6 (Single PUP) and noticed the placement of the back pick up on the the HS and H seem to be different - is that true?
The H seems to be more forward, which I would prefer.
The HS -

and the H

I'm just noticing the placement relative to the screws in the pickguard more than anything else :) but the position of the PUP in the H is where I like to anchor my thumb.

That single H sits in what is called the sweet spot and that is why single H bongos rule the bongo world.

Already got an HH bongo 5 that I love but the front pick up annoys me sometimes when I'm slapping - need to work on my technique but I've played that way for soo looooong its just an unlearn/relearn thing.

They had to move the bridge pickup closer to the bridge on the dual pickup Bongos because with the 24-fret neck, there wasn't enough space to leave the bridge pickup in the sweet spot.

Experts, please correct me if I'm wrong,

But I do believe that all BONGO HS basses have a "silent circuit" (hum-cancelling) coil underneath the pickguard, between the rear and front pick-up. Which could account for the more rear-ward placement of the humbucker pick-up, on BONGO HS basses. Any thoughts?

PDF diagram shows "silent circuit", before balance knob .

I don't think that's the main reason because it's the same on the HH Bongo. Also, I don't think EBMM is putting the "dummy coil" between the pickups anymore. I think that recently, they started putting it under the single-coil (see the HS 20th SR5 and HS BFRs, which don't have pickguards).

Yes, the humbucker on the H is placed differently than the bridge pup on the HS or HH. One reason may be to have more variety on the 2 pickup configurations. I personally prefer the bridge pickup's tone on the HS or the H than the single humbucker, from what I can tell of videos/recordings of other people playing them. I haven't tried either yet :(
