I wouldn't be afraid to gig it, i only own two basses, both entirely different and they're both really important to me, but i play them, I plan on gigging them when my band is ready, what's the worst that can happen? they get a couple of dings, it adds character, shows that they've been played and that they've been well loved. At the moment i'm actually trying to get the funds to buy a vintage bass just for the cool factor.

Sure, unrepentant, BUT the Dargies are really, really, really rare! My SR4 is 1 of 25 made, the 2 band SR4's were even only 3 and some of the fretlesses are singeltons. That beats pretty much every LE EBMM ever made, and comes close Custom Shop made instruments.
It's hard to get one again if it's lost...

Oh, and did I mention how rare those Dargies are?

My Dargie gets plenty of time on the gigs. :D

See, that's how I feel too. I mean I love my Dargie, but I worry that some drunk or even worse a fight might break out and then my beloved bass might get seriously damaged! I do still play her whenever I get a chance, but my main bass is my 20th anniversary 5er.

I'm even a little afraid to take HER out to a small club, where there is no stage and I have to play in a corner. (you guys know what I mean right?)

My Dargie SR4 HH is also 1 of 25.
My 07 LE SR4 2eq? how many of those could possibly been built? I bet only a few.

They beg for the stage lights!

Any MusicMan is built to last, and it doesn't matter if it's a Hells Angels party or a wedding, no bass will hold up better. If it get's dinged, well that's all that's going to happen to it, no way it'll break.

Well it seems to be the majority feeling that not gigging ANY musicman let alone a Dargie, is a crime. With that being said, now I have to convince my wife that it's OK to play out my very special limited edition expensive instrument. (BTW that's how I talked her into letting me BUY this gorgeous specemin):D

LOL @ Ben. And guess what? I'm not afraid to have him do it -- frankly, I'm proud. No doubt the Dargies are extremely special basses from a special company, but if you get your undies all in a bunch and can't play 'em out, what's the point? There are plenty of basses to play at home, but how many look or feel as good as a Dargie on stage? Especially on Ben.

P.S. That bass makes your butt look great, Ben.

For me, it depends on the gig. If its a small thing i wouldn't really care. Plus i want people to see the bass. It looks sick.
