Hey guys and dolls.

Just sneaking over from the six stringed dark side for a quick thread...

I am officially pulling the trigger on ordering a Bongo 4 next week. It was either a down payment on the Bongo, or a PS3. I got a bonus, and can now afford both! I have a few questions concerning the bass:

1.) Does anyone know why the Bongo isn't available in white?

2.) On the 08 LE I read that leftys will not get gold hardware. Deny? Confirm?

3.) I'm thinking of going for an HS pickup configuration. Opinions?

Thanks in advance.

1.) That makes sense.

2.) I kind of like the SKB cases best, so a sequoia gold Bongo 4 would be killer!

3.) Most tame in what instance? Does adding in the single coil somehow dull down the humbucker? I don't get this at all.

Thanks for the prompt and informative response. I am almost decided. Fretless lined Sequoia Gold Bongo 4... now I just have to figure out the pickup configuration.

The 2008 LE Question Thread mentions nothing of Gold hardware for left handed instruments or 2008 inlay on a fretless board. These will be the deciding factors for if a LE will be ordered.

When the 08 LE was first introduced, BP said that lefties would get the standard chrome, and not the gold.

As for fretless, the 2008 inlay will stay at the 12th fret position. Just like the 2007 LE fretless'.

Tim -

I have a for all intents and purposes new Bongo 4HH for sale in Desert Gold with case, PM me for details if interested. It'll be cheaper than buying a new on and it basically is new.

I am in the market for a left handed one.

BP said that lefties would get the standard chrome, and not the gold.

That's what I remember being said. Since that initial mention, I've heard nothing.

Thanks for the comment on the inlay.

That's all the news I need to know. Didn't mean make you get so angry mynan. I should have looked for these threads on my own. Lesson learned!

If gold wasn't offered on the lefty, I think he would have mentioned it. Why mention the different case and not the difference in hardware if there was one?

It came off as a little miffed to me. It's so difficult to tell tone by just reading words. I know this first hand, because all of my jokes get misinterpreted on here.

Excellent.

So, next question: (by the way, I have decided on a Bongo

What do you guys think of Markbass? I was checking into it on their website, and found that some guy named Sterling something or other endorses them!

MARKBASS

I had no idea! I checked into their stuff, and am looking at the SA450 or SD800 and a 104HR cabinet. What's people's opinion and experience with this kind of gear?

(I found out a sister store to the one I work at carries them, which means I can get one!)

Just to clear things up

All lefty Limited Edition 2008 models will ship with Gold Hardware...the only difference is the case (which will be the SKB, like previously mentioned)

That firms it up. I am ordering a single H Bongo in the 08LE today! Thanks for everyone's help. After this, it's purchasing a Markbass, and then back to hounding people for a left handed JP6. Hahahaha.

THANKS!

Don't forget piezo, you might want that since you're going fretless.

I remember someone (BP maybe?) saying the HS sounds awesome on the bongo fretless.

I have been led to believe that piezo isn't available on the 2008 LE.

Is it? Do they do piezo for left handed basses? MAN OH MAN! I just want to buy a bass! So many freakin' options!

Hmmm....too difficult to match the paint huh? And here I always thought that the Bongo wasn't available in white because it looked too much like a toilet seat...

(Now, don't get nasty here, that toilet seat comment was what I had heard, and is not intended as a slam - I myself would love to get a white Bongo 6 - colour matching of neck and body be damned!!)
