Pipeman, that's funny, as soon as I saw this thread title I figured it was you trying to stir up interest for your guitar. I already posted a link on the ebay/craiglist thread. I do like the guitar alot, but it's just too much for me. If it was White Sparkle, I would have bought it already. :)

Black and cream are standard colors for the MM90s on an Albert Lee, but on an Axis they only come in cream to match the binding

Ooops:eek:
I guess I wasn't thinking of the just the bound Super Sports, but that AL's and the original Sports that had black covers and that they were in-house and available.

But then again, if those pup covers came out of the AL bin - it just make the guitar that much more special :D

Below is a copy of the latest e-mail that was sent to me from the guy giving me crap about my guitar . After his first (rather juvenile )e-mail , I responded and asked him to put all bulls**t aside... and if he had any credible information for me, I'd be glad to hear it . This was his response pasted word for word form his last two e-mails ( It took two e-mail I believe , because e-bay only lets you use so many characters to ask a question ) ;

Dear 123jodyd,

Yes ALL bull**** aside, there is NOTHING special about this paint scheme,or the black binding! All the binidings Ernie Ball uses are ABS plastic,as this what ALL binding is made of! I am a luthier, collector, and dealer of BOTH new,and used vintage, and modern equipment, and have been for over twenty years! I make copies of these guitars, and there is NO special binding process involved JUST because of it's color! If I had a penny for every jackass that said something was special about their very standard instrument, trying to make it sound more intersting than it really is-I'D BE RICH BY NOW!!! Superglue gel does wonders for binding as it does'nt take long to dry,or wick(capalate)into the wood around it allowing it to not squeeze out along the edge so that it can be sanded in a matter of minutes! This paint scheme is what Ernie Ball used on Eddies'FIRST prototype as pictured on www.vintagekramer.com's website! You can see for yourself! Peavey also made white, and black bound guitars as well!

If you really want to know if the appointments of your guitar are really special, look on ebay EVERYDAY,or look at the options menu on Ernie Balls' website! DEATH TO THE NEWSQUEERS!!!!!

In his defense , he does have a 100% feedback rating on e-bay . Any thoughts ?

Thanks ,

Jody

On one side - I believe your guitar may be unique with respect to the paint and binding aesthetic since that was/is not available in An Axis Super Sport.

I don't know that the binding process, as this guy claims, would be any different with respect to materials which are available to the guitar manufacturing world. Plus, to put a black binding against a black backing wouldn't make sense as it would get lost.

On the other hand - this guy does not sound like a very pleasant fellow and I wouldn't bother dealing with him. Not worth the hassle.

If you want to have more details on the process you may want to contact customer support directly as they may be able to give you better info.

nothing special he says?
how about you wont find another in that finish? oh oh wait a minute .. he can just make a copy ;)

kidding aside, if he isnt interested in the guitar why bother putting you down because of it? if the market is willing to pay your price i dont see any problems with that. im european and the historically low dollar makes things like these interesting for me. im tempted by your guitar but its a bit steep in price compared to eg the evh natural that went for 1900 yesterday... time will tell what you get for it ;)

The bindings are plastic, I remember this from the Open House tour. As for this guitar being special, I think if it's special to you or anyone else, then it's special. It's special compared to ordering on because it has the black binding and stuff.

It's different and as AJ pointed out it was made for an artist, so there aren't too many of them around. But in the end it's a guitar and I think a very nice one at that.

Good luck. Glenn |B)

Jody,

I'd block that guy from bidding on anything you have and even contacting you. He's a dork and is just being annoying. Your guitar is awesome and you are free to ask whatever you want for it. You might get more, you might get less. If I had the dough right now, I'd totally buy it myself and play it in my praise band. I've been wanting a white axis for a long time. I hope you get what you need for it.

That guy is a tool ... a "luthier"? ... I doubt it ... more like a weekend warrior with a self inflated sence of self importance.

A look at this recent unsuccessful auction of his speaks volumes ... apparently his #1 partocster was not as special as he thought.
Maybe if his description was longer, used a bigger font and maybe some bold or blinking text ....

That is a really cool looking Axis. More $$$ than I am willing to pay for it...but, you may get that for it.

I wouldn't worry about that e-mail. From the looks of things...he is not what he says he is either. Just my opinion....

Love the stage outfit...lol.

I would love to have a white Axis SS with a maple neck. This is the closest I've seen to it...nice guitar man.

Hey Jody, I saw you guys at a Promise Keepers in Omaha a few years back. You were rocking a black Tele. Its strange to think about the Newsboys without you and Phil.
