Hello all,

I have a walnut-burst BFR that I purchased a month or so ago. The neck always felt a little uncomfortable to be, but I thought it was just me not having gotten used to the guitar.

But now that I play it more, and compare with my other guitars, as well as a couple of other JP6s, mine seems to have a sharp edge on the fretboard. I'm not talking about the frets themselves, but the actual area at the edge. I feel it quite a bit especially since the radius on these guitars is so flat. When I play my other guitars side by side with this, it's VERY noticeable. The BFR can be very uncomfortable to play during certain things, where I slide, or have my hand resting on the edge during any kind of movement. It seems my finish there (near edge) is also peeling/cracking or something in certian locations.

Is this typical of these guitars, or is this a problem I need to get fixed on mine? I'm certain it's just my guitar, because I've played other JP6s that aren't like this.

I really like the guitar otherwise (neck profile, sound, feel, etc) and would really like to get it fixed. I'm gonna call cust. support some time soon. Just looking for thoughts/similar experiences...

Thanks...

Uhm, it's actually an unhappy/worried face I thought.

Sorry if I broke the rules or something. It wasn't my intent to file a customer support request here. I was just looking for advice from other owners like my post said. It's a Music Man guitar forum so it seemed to be a technical issue I could discuss here with other owners.

I apologize if my email read like it was bitch session. It wasn't. I was planning on keeping this guitar since I like it a lot.

EDIT: I just read your sig. I didn't know about point #2. So once again, sorry! I didn't see anything like that in the FAQ, perhaps you guys should put it there too.

That fretboard edge can vary depending on the guitar manufacturer. Like you mentioned radius and neck carve will have an effect on feel as well. So it may be different than what you are used to. I never ran into a guitar I would consider "sharp", but YMMV. Customer service will help ya out.

Perhaps the warning should come up on the "new thread" page? "Note: if this is about a customer service issue, please contact CS before posting".

A disclaimer on all new threads at the point of creation might not be a bad idea at this point...and disable the frowny face option.

Yeah, there's really no reason to even have any negative content in this forum...
