Re-issue Stingray's, yes or no?

They've changed just about everything at some point

The neck finish
the preamp (wiring and 3 band)
the pickup
the body (contouring)
the neck finish and profile
the bridge (string mutes, string thru body)

a lot of things tbh, as i said they've had 32 years to perfect that bass

I'd buy one - not because I think they'd be better or are "needed" ... just because it was there (if they were). In other words, for the fun & novelty of it, and because it would say "Stingray" on the headstock. I'd buy one.

I think we all would agree that the production quality should not be vintage style... ;)

Thinking the whole idea over, I'd be very much in Robert's position, needing to have one, "just because". And it must be exactly like on the old adds: Vintage burst with maple neck. Thinking about those ads... I think it would be even more temptation to get a Sabre re-issue... but I think we already had that discussion.

Total killer (also financially) would be a re-issue of the SR and Sabre in a twin package, exactly as on the '79 ads.

I got to play a '76 SR and a pre-EB Sabre today. The Sabre was really sweet. Beautiful tone came out of that bass. The SR was killer too. :D

I grew up on pre EB Stingrays. I like EB Stingrays better. EB improved many things. I don't think that there's much of a market for "re-issue" Stingrays. If pre-EB Stingrays were so great, they'd be selling for more $$$. Although, there are some very sweet pre-EB Stingrays out there; probably the ones that aren't for sale on Ebay.
