Hey guyz, do you guyz prefer the fantastic solid color, or you just love the natural beauty of the wood tops made by EBMM?

Yup, I like looking at stunning wood tops, and I have a balanced collection of solid color and wood tops guitars (EBMMs and other made..). But ultimately, I'm gonna take a solid-colored one upstage that demonstrates my musical preference and character! :D

I can't answer between those two options cuz, while fancy tops aren't my thing, I do like burst finishes, which can't be considered a solid color, can it? I'm fine with sunburst over alder, for example, even though there's no fancy grain showing through.

Haha, this is a hard one Bruce.. I think if we can see wood grain, we will usually consider it as a natural top. ;)

Ah, so then the choice is either natural or painted top? Guess I'm impartial, so long as its got my mojo woikin'.

I like figured tops that deserve recognition (IE BFR). The other two big companies that boast "10 tops" (what the heck is that??) really kind of blow anymore. They used to be great.

My daily fix for figured tops is the BFR picture thread.

I love a trans or burst finish over a nice flame or quilt top. I don't have anything against solid colors (most of my guitars are), but if there's a solid color sitting next to a nice trans with a good-looking top, I'm going with the trans. If I'm ordering one, unless it's a JP (Mystic Dream there -- not really a "solid" color still, I guess), it will probably be PBB or BCB.

People who would take a solid color over one of those gorgeous tops baffle me almost as much as people who prefer a natural headstock. :D

In general, I like the very dark burst translucent colors. If I had to choose between a non-burst translucent color or a solid...I'd probably go solid.

I like both really...it depends on the color and the way the finish strikes me. There is no definitive direction either way for me.

Different finishes suit different guitars, but on the whole, I prefer natural, I'm a sucker for a nice 'burst.

IMO, these count as solids. In my book, our burst/sparkle Silos both fall into the solid category
