I actually don't mind either, but then again, I'm not that big on finishes. If it's a solid colour that hides plain wood, I'm all for it. If it's a figured wood that should be showed off, then I'm cool too.

But most importantly, I actually BELIEVE in all that crap about thin nitro finishes. I just wish EBMM used them. I know there's probably little or no difference, but I don't mind paying a little more for peace of mind... heheheh...

I've always liked solid colors, sparkles, bursts, and naturals. But I'm not to crazy about quilts and flames unless the guitar really calls for it.

solid colours for sure. the fancy top dont make it sound or feel better.

white is my favourite colour i dont have. simple and ever so elegant.

Actually, I think that a fancy top can make a guitar sound better. Take, for example, the 20th Anniversary Silhouette. It's been said by EBMM folks that the combination of woods is what makes the guitar sound so great. I think that includes the maple top.

My feeling is that colors don't make a difference in sound and feel. So, for 2007, I prioritized getting my order in for a BFR JP6 instead of a 2007 LE of any kind. I didn't think the Blue Dawn was going to make as much of a difference in the sound of any guitar. To me, Blue Dawn, as spectacular as it can be, was just different a color. A BFR JP6 is a whole different animal compared to the original JP6, and that's a largely a function of the woods involved.

But...you're probably right that a highly figured maple top doesn't sound much different from a less highly figured maple top--if that's what you mean.

I like both really...it depends on the color and the way the finish strikes me. There is no definitive direction either way for me.

For me, if it happens to have a highly figured top, that's great. I'd like to see it. If it doesn't have a particularly attractive grain pattern, I'll take an opaque finish. I'm perfectly happy with Pearl Redburst, Medallion Gold, and Blue Dawn. I'm also happy with my Caramel Burst and Trans Ruby. So, I don't have a definite preference. It depends on the guitar. If I get a BFR AL, I wouldn't want to paint over the top with an opaque color. Give me the Pinkburst. If I get a JP7, well, I'll take an opaque color.

I tend to like the natural wood showing through, even if it i not necessarily a natural-like color. I like more of the Earth tones, such as vintage bursts, Caramel Burst, walnut burst, black burst...actually mostly darker finishes are all very sexy. Either flame or quilt is ok, depending on the color. I also do like solid colors, but they tend to remind me of cars way too much. I really love Carbon Blue on my Silo Sp, but without the pickguard too much like a car...I still like it a lot though, dont get me wrong. But when it comes to solid colors I like black or a burst like the Pearl Red Burst on the JPs. I am really loving all the BFRs. The only thing that I wish for would be for the Silhouettes to be able to get in see through finishes other than the vintage sunburst. Would LOVE a Pacific Blue Burst Silhouette.

I love highly figured maple tops in burst finishes, but I also love solid colours too... my Radiance Red and Dargie Delight Lukes look spectacular.

I have both, but like the looks of the trans finishes best. I prefer to have the natural wood showing through when possible.

I had to get the black Axis SS though, a black guitar is just old school cool.

i always wanted a black axis.. but i hate it when it gets dirty with fingerprints

I've got two words for that problem... Wonder Wipes.

Yeah, the black does show the fingerprints really bad. I like it when I clean it up and then leave it for a few days, I can always tell when my stepson has been playing the guitars... ;) BUSTED!!!
