Any ideas when the regular 4 string Stingray HH's are shipping? I bought one in Black cherry burst with matching headstock, and I've been told it won't be in till July 18th :( This is has got to be the hardest wait I've ever had.

Talk about anticipation - my 2008 bass shipped from EB this past Friday. My dealer said he knew he had 2 basses from EB arriving today, 2 tomorrow, and 2 Friday, but he didn't know which basses were arriving when. So I called today to see what he got ... not mine yet. He got 2 Bongo 6's in today, which'll be fun to check out when I go to pick up mine, hopefully tomorrow!

I've been waiting since January...I would say that's a pretty long time wouldn't you?

I'd say that's about average. There's a great number of us that have waited longer. I just don't get the frown, it's not like the folks at EBMM are sitting on their hands, delaying the production of your bass. You'll get your bass when it's done, and you own enough of their basses to know it will be well worth the wait. ;)

Just because I know the great quality of my BALLS doesn't mean I can't be sad that I only have 3... But serioulsy, this is the longest I've ever had to wait for anything in my life!

I know of one company that's currently putting their customers through a 4 year wait!

I had a bass on order from that company up until a couple of months ago. I cancelled it after having waited 18mths. I took the money and ordered another Sterling 5. Plus their attitude really turns me off.

I checked out a few of the BFR Redwoods today - an H and an HH. First of all, drop dead f'ing gorgeous. They were quite different from one another in some ways, very similar in others, of course. I don't know the exact weights of either of them, but the H was the lightest feeling EBMM I've ever held/played. The figuring on the 2 was quite different - both stunning. The redwood cap piece on the H was also lighter in color.

The feel/playability of both were of course very similar, and both excellent. Tonally ... the HH gets my vote, both for overall variety, and for the incredible sound of position 3, all 4 coils. But on both of them, I found the tonal balance to be superb. Considering the combination and use of woods, it's not surprising.

It was hard, but I didn't take either of them home today. A few more will be arriving next week, and I want to check them out.

I also got to fool around (literally) with a Graphite Pearl Bongo 6. I didn't plug in with it - not this time, I was too eager to try the Redwoods, but I played it unplugged for about 5 minutes. It's the best feeling 6 I've ever played. I love the idea of a 6 (primarily the chordal possibilities), but when I've had them in the past, my left wrist and thumb always ended up feeling uncomfortable pretty soon. Not surprisingly with the Bongo's great neck profile, I didn't feel any of that going on - atleast not in that 5 minutes. It felt totally comfortable, and it was a joy to play. We may have a second date.

Closing thought. Those Redwood tops SUCK OUT LOUD!
