there's a Nissan Murano in the garage at work that I swear looks just like my Egyptian Smoke SR4. Then again, I'm color blind so it could be pink for all i know.

Awhile ago I was looking around all Guitar Centers stores for a Stingray 5, and they had one that was refinished in that color, where it changed depending on what angle. I considered it, but my girlfriend said NO WAY so I had to pass. :) It was real cheap too, like $800 or something.

I want to find that bass!!! Anyone on the forum own this?

Yeah. Mine told me I absolutely have to have a Desert Gold StingRay. So I ordered one.

BTW, I'm sooooooooo curious to see how it is in person. Never seen DG before! And about those EBMM colour choices: I think they're great, but there will always be a colour the customer misses. And after all, colours are definitely buyer driven -- unfortunately mostly the buyers who order for stock are dealers who are afraid of anything but black/maple. I did love the sparkle colours, after I'd seen them in person. Before that I'd never have ordered one. That's one of the big problems: Get the buyers to see all those marvelous colours and order instruments to their specifications instead of just grabbing that black/maple SR4 3EQ from the wall.

Pretty much the same problem with cars: Walk into any BMW, Porsche or Audi dealer here and what you find is black with black, gray with black, silver with black and dark blue with beige. The generic colours. Sort of. Lucky if you can find a used red sports car, because they go much cheaper than the black ones!

Prior to ordering, I asked the EBMM distributor whether they had any sort of colour swatches to help decide whether to get Desert Gold or Lava Pearl. They hadn't. And they had never seen the colours themselves. So I ordered anyway. While ordering they asked back, "are you sure about the colour code?! this is orange!!".

BP: I dont pick colors initially anymore. I gave up after the sparkle fiasco...we died with those. I Pick once they have narrowed it down.

I only recently learned of the sparkle finishes and I've been hounding a forumite to part with one...those things are beautiful. I wish I'd been paying attention when they were offered.

Just by reading all these posts, I can only imagine why picking colors is so hard, and sticking with the 'standards' makes so much sense...though I want buttercream to become a standard!...See..it's hard.
