sorry to say it but after owning my axis for a couple weeks...we arent exactly bonding. when i got my jp we were instant soul mates. the sub 1 took time and its still way ugly but now i love it. the axis, is not clicking with me. great tones but not necessary enough and i dont like the neck or the lack of armrest. hopefully a setup/cleanup will help but im worried it wont make the cut. please help it out.

Fat,

Relax and be patient!! Remember, you said that about your first wife too, and look how things are going now.

So in this case, the good news is, you will also grow to appreciate the fine appoinments of the Axis, I guarantee it!:)

I hope it all works out. I got an Axis SS recently and fell in love with it right away. My only complaint is the playing comfort while standing. Sitting down is fine, but when I'm standing I feel like I struggle to get a comfortable position. I'm hoping that goes away as well.

Arm carves are my preference too.

That said, I love the tones I get from my AL with contour but my right hand doesn't rest as comfortably as it does on my Lukes.

Yeah, fatoni, maybe a different MM is what you need? I am a huge fan of the JP (pure perfection in every aspect IMO!) but would love to try out a Luke or AL for a while. Good luck straightening out your feelings!

Trade you my black Sub1 and either a Jackson Performer PS-4 with floyd or the sub1 and a Godin Exit 22. Both the Jackson and Godin are body carved and fit better than just about anything I've played otherwise (including the Sub1). My goal is to get an Axis. I've put about 10,000 miles on one at our local Guitar Center. Heck.....just yesterday they yelled at me for climbing up the ladder to take it off the top hanger. :D No, really.

If other guitars in my sig (except the Guild) would be of interest instead, let me know.

My HSS Axis Sport was in every way a cool little guitar, but I couldn't bond with it, especially not with the neck carve, though the action was superb. Sold it and got another Special, and we all live happily ever after.
