As per a previous post, I have severed ties with my SR4 due to the lack of a b string.
well I head out to the basscentre in south melbourne (the greatest music shop in oz!!!) and hoped to settle on my next bass.
I was keeping an open mind, I tried
SR5 (single and twin humbuckas)
Fender jazz V
Fender Marcus Miller Jazz V
A mystery second hand Spector (super fat rockin tone, but not for me)
A Lakland
and......
My fist play of a Bongo (Niiiice but out of the price range)
I started with the SR5 and payed the rest pretty much in the order they are listed.
I was almost swayed to the dark side with the jazz, but when I picked up the SR5 HH my choice was clear.
I almost placed an order for a blueburst when the gentleman from the acoustic guitar centre (upstairs from the basscentre) said he has a silver sparkle SR5 he is selling for a friend. I have always loved sparkle finishs so I was excited
He said he didn't know what the colour was called. He described it as "more of a matt sparkle, than a metal flake"
Do you think he means GUNSMOKE SILVER? or does SILVER SPARKLE sound right?
What a great afternoon anyway
