so im thinking of adding a cab to my mark bass rig
as of now i have a traveller 102 to compliment my LMII

so i was thinking of adding a another 102
or a 104
or a 151

talking to another co worker
he says when he added a 1x15 cab to his 4x10 he got a lot of dead sound?
so that kinda biased me away from getting a 1x15
although i would love the booming lowend addition

i know the 4x10 would add a nice boom along with clear mids/highs
but that cab may be a lil bit too big to carry around week to week
and may not fit to well in my subaru

so my final choices come down to getting another 2x10

i dunno what u guys think... u think my co worker was wrong in saying adding the 1x15 would create a dead sound?

Well I have a 1x15" only, and its ampeg, i´m adding a 4x10 next month. The thing I noticed with the 15" is that i can hear it much better in the mix when i´m about 2 - 3 meters in front of it. So I guess it depends on how big/small the arena is if you get much dead sound? ;)

I´m wondering if i should run them in series or parallel ...

I have the 151HF and Traveler 102 cabs. I use them with either an LMII or an SD800. Either way, the rig absolutely kills! No "dead sound"...just the sound of bodies dropping!! Seriously, this is the best combination that I have heard so far....clarity with low end. Of course having some Rays to run into the rig helps! Just my 2 cents.....

I ditched the 1x15 in my setup and went with (2) 2x10 cabs and it has plenty of low end. I don't miss the 1x15 at all. Bongo 4HH. My amp is an SWR Bass 750.....:)

I replaced the 115 in my setup (210/115) with another 210 and the improvement was huge. Much tighter, louder and deeper as the 115 was an older Eden and I replaced it with a 210XST which is a powewrhouse of a little cab.

Another +1 for 2X10

I leave my SWR SoB 1X15 at our practice facility. I use a 2X10 or 4X10 for clubs. Much more punch and cut. Originally I used the 2X10 on top of the 1X15, but when I got the 4X10, it was no contest. Another 2X10 is what you need. Of course, JMHO and YMMV.

Have a Traveler 102P (under my CMD102) and it has a real tight sound - a 104 will give you a little more flexibility in what you can do - but if it is too big so be it. The 151 won't creat dead sound but it doesn't cut like the 102 - and if size is the consideration here the 102 is perfect.

Don't think you can go wrong here.

Checked with ampeg and they said use speakon (series) to get the full output of the amp. But I will try´em both (series/parallel), Thaks for the imput! ;)

Mack

Sorry, but your man at Ampeg is smoking something. Just because a speaker connector is a Speakon it makes no difference to the wiring of the cabinet and the connectors. I will gladly stand corrected if I am wrong, but I'll wager that every commercially available speaker cabinet on the market is wired so that if you connect it up with another cabinet, it will be in parallel, not series. Speakon is merely a type of connection that makes better surface area contact than, say, a 1/4" jack connector. That means a Speakon will result in less signal loss and better power output, all other things being equal. It's got nothing to do with series vs parallel, which is a whole different ballgame.
