No.. ,before you decide to buy a guitar... i think you should play the other guitars as much as you can first. After that then you can try ebmm guitars, then you can decide which one is good for you ..

your hand and your ear will tell you better than anyone else.

and i know what will you choose.. :)

This is excellent advise that I agree with 100%.

I do this several times every week. Go to whatever guitar store is convenient (I travel for my job) and play something new. It's how I found several of the guitars I now own. I never heard of EB until I was in GC one day with my kids, just trying a few things out. Someone was playing near us who was really, really good. I wanted to at least know what amp settings he was using so when he left, I picked up the guitar he was playing (an Axis) and plugged it in. I could play better than I could with any of the other guitars that day. No idea why.....just could.

I still play new stuff all the time. From $80 Squier Bullets (let me puke....) to $5000 Les Paul something or others. It's always fun just trying new stuff.

I'd be afraid to scratch the damn thing

My EB cost me 750 bucks, and I'd put it up against any of those double-super-mega-reissue-this-time-it's-super-authentic-we-mean-it money pits :D

I'm afraid...yes :) You can try other guitars, you can pretend you love them, but the truth is that EBMM is the real life-time love! Go for it "son" :)

Haha I'm trying to get my parents to get me an EBMM too! Graduation's coming up, but it's still too expensive. But I think I'm close to getting one, because I already have a bunch of money saved up and I'll probably get a bunch of cash from graduation. Problem is, I'll need a good amp to complement the Petrucci!

Absolutely not! You should spend the next 20 years playing mediocre to somewhat good guitars and then finally get yourself an EBMM guitar so you realize just how awesome they are.

I take that back. I've already done that, so I'll save you the trouble. Get a MusicMan!

I've got a black sub1 hh trem that you can get for fairly cheap! It's no JP, but it's a Ball....and it's sweet.

One....yes, buy an Ernie Ball guitar (and then save for more)!

Two...I had my Amber Axis routered under the Floyd and can get insane pull back noises.

Three...see point number One

i like to shred and play drop tuning with a whammy bar that goes both ways. i havent personally seen any ebmm's that have that

Interresting ..... Ask Lucious AKA Steve Lukather himself how is managing that :p

You can get a Luke 1 or Luke 2 and shred like no other in drop D or in Eb:D
