hey,

I always had a 'Ray on my wishlist but only recently when I put some stuff I dont use anymore on sale I decided the time to get a 'Ray has come.
so, I purchased two of them :D

one is a '98 (or so the seller said) which arrived today and the other is an '80 MM 'Ray (ETA - next week).

I think the few hours I've spent with her aren't enough to write a review and the neck still needs setting in.
a new bass is always a source for excitment so I'll wait a week or two till I can write an unbiased account of how she plays/sound and maybe even a neck to neck (literaly) comparison to the Pre-EB SR.

here she is in all her glory (sorry for the flash, she does sport all the position markers along with some crazy Birdseyes :) )

edit:
I just found her on Musicmanbass.net serials list and she's a 2000.

Finally someone who gets it right from the start.
You can't have just one... there's something about them that makes one have many...

Welcome, and congratulations on your starting collection!

Hmmmm...very interesting....

I like you already!!! Congrats Mr. E! :D

thanks.

I mainly play Precisions and I like keeping things simple. also, I always loved the classic Stingray tones featured on Chic, Supertramp and Sade records so it seemed natural to stick with a maple board and the 2 band EQ when the decision to pick up a Stingray was made.

anyway, I cleaned her throughly, adjusted the truss rod and put a set of medium gauge DR Hi-Beams and she plays great now though some minor intonation adjustments are still needed. the build quality is superb and I finally understand what everyone was talking about.

I'll update when the pre-EB SR arrives. I'll probably string her with flats as I'm a big fan of the late Bernard Edwards' tone and I ussually string my basses with flats.

I'm a metal player, so I love having my 3 band EQ right there for boosting mids. :) Congrats my friend, like they say, EBMM basses are addictive. I've been looking around for months and decided the only logical bass to buy is another EBMM. :p Nice birdseye on the neck in the first pic.
