Denver area.
I'm eager to try a Bongo 4H, but none of the dealers in my area have one in stock. I guess the Bongo HH and HS must be better sellers, but I know that doesn't necessarily mean they sound better. I went to a few more places today looking for one, including a GC in the area. No B4H, and when a sales guy approached me & asked me if I was looking for anything in particular, I told him what I was looking for & mentioned that I hadn't been able to find one in stock. He said, "there's one right there", and pulled an SR5 H off the wall & handed it to me. Well ... close anyway, if you ignore the extra string and the little detail about it being the wrong model. But he got the single H part right. How do you confuse a Bongo with ... ANYTHING?? I was particularly surprised in this case too, because this guy seemed to be around my age (37), and should definitely know better.

Anyway, the hunt continues. Or I might just go ahead and order one "on faith".

I prefer the single H configuration over all the others. I orderd mine without having heard one and had no regrets. Definitely worth taking eggman's for a spin if it ain't too far of a drive.

I have severe Bongo GAS now - but can't decide between H and HH. Either way it will have a piezo and be a 4 stringer.

Bring on the forum bash so I can try a few out! Yay! :D

Tom, isn't yours fretless as well? How are you getting on with that?

The H is so underrated. Most of the dealers around here think more pups are better. So not the case with the Bongo (not that multi pup Bongos are bad... ANY Bongo is a good Bongo). It is really ashame the the H isn't getting the love it deserves.

I'll step in to say that the single H is my least favorite Bongo, so try before you buy! They all rock but ...yeah try 'em all first.

It is an acquired taste. I find that it is the most clear and aggressive of the bunch but has its own voice. But they DO all rock.
