And as this guy is not going to buy any more EBMM products, lets buy double the amount!

That will sure show him!

May I add: How many people are going to receive a personal phone call from the president of a multi million dollar company in an attempt to resolve a product complaint?

Let’s see, this person handled every aspect of this situation wrong, but it’s EBMM’s fault…

I’d like to see that eBay ad though, I’m sure the description included “sounds crap”.

Oh and this part kills me…

“Your entire staff focused more on my one mistake*, that I openly admitted, instead of the bigger issue that this bass had issues.”

The main “issue” that bass had was its owner.

* 1, removing the pickup. 2, selling it on eBay. 3, being an asshat.

So.. who bit on the eBay ad that read:

"Defective Music Man Pickup for sale!"

:D:D:D

It would be interesting to find his auction and see if he misrepresented it!

Asshat is the correct description for that Bozo, unreal, mods his bass and expects EB to jump thru hoops for him.

I have modded a EBMM knowing full well I was on my own at that point.

Besides Dan and everyone at CS rock, I cant tell you how well Dan takes care of me no matter what.

Just an Asshat,

thats all.

Not sure of all the details here. Did the ebay-sold pickup come from a different bass than the one he just bought and returned?

Yikes!... The thought of an SR5 floating around GC with an aftermarket pickup is not a good one...

Not trying to score any points, and as a new customer, my dealings with the customer service people have been very positive. I have had the pleasure of speaking with 3 different people and asked pretty mundane questions which I am sure they have all answered a bi-zillion times, yes thats right a bi-zillion. They all responded very professionally and were quite pleasant. Reviewed this fellow's story and it just sounded a little thin.

He said his SR5 sounded crap? Maybe it would sound better if he pulled it out of his arse. I guess some people are just born with genitals on their head. Well dealt with BP.

I did this because this is another guy that will end up on that other forum bashing me and the comapny. Mynan the bass he returned was a new one. He still owns that "defective bass" For the record how would you expect customer service to handle the following

" have a Sr5 that doesnt sound right to my ears"

CS< "Is it under warranty?"

Customer "I dont know"

CS "let me fnd out for you....please give me the serial number"

Customer "23409856"

CS Either of these " That is under warranty, please return it to us and will will address your issues immediately" Or you bought that bass usede as the serial number indicates that the bass is 5 years old...Please send it to us and we will evaluate and give you a estimate for repairs"

OR This scenario...

Customer...." I have a Singray 5 that I took the pickup out, sold the original on ebay for $150.00 (pretty good for a used pickup, eh? I wonder why it sold so quick and for so much money?) But I dont like the sound of the modded bass. Can you sell me a new pickup?"

CS " I'm sorry but we will only replace a defective pickup with an exchange policy...this goes back to the Leo Fender days"

Customer " How dareyou I buy your strings and have bought 4 sting rays back even before you owned the company. Sterling Ball is on the forum and he says that we are all family and I think you should make an exception"

CS " Im really sorry this is not going to happen."

Customer hangs up and calls back

Customer " I have a defective stingray 5.....

CS repeat the rap above...

Customer I cant send i to you because I sold the pick up that was in question....

CS WE cant do anything for you if you have sold the pickup in question..

Customer throws weight around and trie every angle to no avail...

hangs up

calls Anonter cs rep same result

Callls Scotty Ball....tells a modified story still same result

Calls Me wil a message of horribly injust treatment by my cs staff.....says that since we are family that I can right the CS worngs and m istreatment.

I tell him that we cant be expected to fix a mystery bass and that he has really doggged cs and
that his message of horribly treatment was really not fair to us...he made a mistake and expects us to treat him differently by pressure and a sob story.

Just having fun with this one. I'm liquidating assets to make up for the anticipated decline in income and have told all in cs to plan for cheaper vacations considering the above boycott and gas prices.

No matter what...there will always be an unhappy customer. No matter how much you bend over backwards for them. Shame really and the good ole line " I will never buy your products again!" is worn out and not even worth mentioning.

So, he has a "crappy" bass and has now put on all his basses "crappy" strings. Good luck with that. My opinion...if you like D'adario's...good for you. I don't....good for me.

He just got everyone bumped up one spot in the line to get our gear faster. Bye bye....:D

BP, thought I remembered you posting that you were getting all of that money from the Nigerian family that is trying to smuggle their family fortune out of the country and needed you and your bank account # to help!?!? Or was it that you won the South African lottery??? Either way, no need to cut back.

In seriousness, I love it when you post these because I can actully use them as lessons in the classroom about ethics and communication (the kids loved this one).

EBMM policy sounds fine to me...if you have an original pickup, doesn't seem right, send it in to EBMM let them look at it under warranty, let EBMM decide if the part is defective, EBMM either returns part of replaces part

My '88 Stingray 4 has a replacement (no tone brand B) pickup, but I got the bass second hand that way because it played and looked great in a color i've always wanted...I love the way the bass plays and I deal with the okay tone for now but I long to get it a real MM pickup...yeah the pickups come on ebay every now and then but I can never seem to snag them...Since EBMM makes their own pickups, They can't just sell me a pickup because I can almost be my own dealer and turn around and sell the pickup on ebay as a brand new pickup which wouldn't be good for EBMM

Question; since we are on the topic, if my EBMM dealer orders a stock MM pickup and the dealer installs the pickup in my Stingray with "BRand B" pickup, is that more appropriate? I'm thinking it wouldn't be that appropriate and the answer is "no"...so i ask another question, what if I sent my Stingray back to SLO and have EBMM do the swap at the factory for whatever they would charge plus shipping? I'm thinking "no" as well...I'm not certain on these answers but I think I have a safe bet that I'm going to be searching ebay and craigslist for a used pickup that I may not be able to snag...am i upset, no, i bought the bass knowing it had a replacement pickup and i'm still happy with the bass, it is just kind of whimpy sounding

I work for a small buisness, 23 employees, and it is easy to understand why we cant just sell products or services for any reason at all...yeah, you get a few upset customers but then again look at all the satisfied customers who have no problem with my works policies...
