Sterling 5 neck question

Hi,

You all know how much I LOVE my Sterling 5, but I have something that's been on my mind. Why didn't BP and the design team make the neck different than the SR5? Don't get me wrong, I still love the feel because it feels just like what I'm used to, but why didn't they make the neck slimmer like they did on the Sterling 4? Anyone else with me on this?

BTW: I can't wait for my other Sterling 5 to arrive.

I think if they made the neck any smaller, the string spacing would be too close for comfort

I dont play 5 strings, but I LOVE the spacing on the SR5's, it just feels good, slim and fast, but some people think the SR5 spacing is too close, I think its perfect.

All I know is that the string spacing remained the same, they added the contoured heel, reduced the size of the headstock... the one thing I'm not sure about is thickness, but I'm confident that that wasn't changed. I do remember (and just searched for it) BP saying that there would be a faster neck carve on it.

To me, it doesn't play like a Stingray 5. I think it's a bit slimmer front-to-back. Not completely positive though. Look up some of the posts where EB started talking about the Sterling 5 details, I think that was one of the things mentioned.

There is a distinct difference between the two necks. The Sterling 5 has some of the "meat" shaved off of the back of the neck, for those of us with slightly smaller hands. Play them both side-by-side - there is a definite difference. Though we don't reveal our specs in that regard, you will feel the difference when playing it.

If the neck were any slimmer as far as the measurements at the nut, it would have been tough to play for many players - the StingRay 5 is already one of the smaller 5 necks out there.

Nice job Dan. How do you answer a complaint when the customer cant feel the difference? It is different and can only be so different and still have enough structural integrity
