It's got a killer top on it but I think I'll stick with the tried and true regular Axis and Axis SS models. For a new color and tone block, can't justify the extra cash.

I would have to agree with that, I wish the wood combination would at least be different. I don't know, it's just not different enough. But I guess you could make that argument with the BFR Luke as well. The thing that I really like about the JP BFR is that it's very different. But I guess you can't please everybody. They're still really cool though, the BFR finishes are amazing, not to mention the sweet inlays. I'm still drooling over the ASS Koa BFR. There are still some left, if I'm not mistaken. If I had the money I would get one in an instant.

Yep those different type wood BFR's like the Koa etc are great. The Axis and ASS is a great design. Don't want them to mess with it too much. If they were to release a BFR Axis with a carved top body. Like a Les Paul, I could see myself digging into my pocket for some cash.:)

I'd say that the tone block will make a significant difference, thereby justifying any price increase.

I'd be willing to bet that the EBMM crew tried a number of different body wood combinations to asses what would sound the best. I'm no expert, but I'd imagine that the tone block is going to give pretty much all of the benefits of a full mahogany body, without the additional weight.

Let's wait until we get the chance to play one though.

You're probably right about that. I didn't know the tone block had such a huge impact on the tone. I guess we'll have to find out when people start buying them and sharing their experiences on here.

Axis doesn't need any help in the tone department :p
