Hi, all!

Well, as you can see, this is not my first post. I have posted things here and there from time to time, but never really introduced myself properly to everyone here. And I'd like that, because this is really one of the most positive-spirited boards I've ever been on. It's full of lots of kind and helpful members, and I'm truly looking forward to be a known part of this wonderful community!

So here it goes;

My name is Jacob, I live in Norway. I mostly play jazz, some rock and funk, leaning into fusion, etc. Currently full-time guitarist in a jazz band, a jazz trio, and a big band, plus some projects here and there, like a Dream Theater project going on recently. I've been greatly inspired by Pat Metheny in particular, lately. Plus influences like John McLaughlin, Al DiMeola, John Scofield, John Petrucci, Steve Morse, Wes Montgomery, etc. Not to mention Chick Corea, Davis, Coltrane, etc., as well. Believe me, that list is long! I currently play through a beautiful Boogie Mark IIC+, that basically covers all of my needs, ranging from jazz to high gain tones (suprising for one little amp).

Actually, my new 20th Anniversary Silhouette arrived a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say I'm completely stunned. I don't even know how to express my feelings about it with words. It's just perfect. In every way; the pickups, wood, aesthetics, frets, design and not to mention the neck; I've never played on a more comfortable neck ever in my life! (I'm only seventeen, though, but I've played on a fair amount of guitars!)

To make the long story short, I experienced love at first sight/touch with one of these models when I was in Berlin about two years ago. When it was put out of production, I truly regretted that I hadn't been able to save up the money and get one sooner, and I thought I'd never would be able to, unless I'd become a very known artist and ask the guys at Ernie Ball to custom-make me one! Almost two years passed, and curiously, after spending an entire evening drooling over forum photos of these from six months ago, I spotted one in a store here in Oslo the next morning. The salesman said they even had several new ones in storage in Sweden. So I ordered one, even asked the dealer to send the finest quilt they could find (there weren't any premium tops available, but it's still an absolutely stunning quilt that I got!), and here I am; feeling like the luckiest guy on earth! And I wanted to give the guys at Ernie Ball my deepest compliments for making such a beautiful instrument! I couldn't be more satisfied!

And now, to satisfy all your hunger for visual representation of the instrument, here are some photos:

Kind regards to all,

Great guitar, and welcome, sort of! If I had more money, I would buy one just like that, but with a trem. I'm sure it sounds amazing with the Mark IIC+.

Do you have any clips or videos?

Hi Jacob. Your 20th Silo is simply stunning. The absolute high quality of materials and superb craftsmanship that goes into these EBMM guitars is evident in the pictures; after you've played it I'm sure you have found your lifetime guitar. Congrats on your acquisition and thank you for your introduction and content.

:)

Jacob,

Great intro!!!
I'm sure I've said it at some point, but welcome!
That's a beautiful guitar you have there. That top sucks and I'm jealous.
I've never played one, but my guess it that it's one of Music Man's best guitars for jazz music.
Kudos!

I welcome thee and thy beautiful instrument! :)

I kinda happen to know that a 20-th silo is a decent (BEWARE: total underestimation) guitar, and Yours is again a proof for that!

Enjoy it and give it as much love, as it deserves.

Thanks! It does really sound amazing. No clips or vids of the pair at the moment, but I might just get some recordings done soon. I'll be sure to post them when I get them done!

Originally, I wanted a trem with piezo, but unfortunately, there are only two options available through the Scandinavian distributor (EM Nordic); quilt, rosewood and hardtail OR flame, maple and tremolo. Matching headstock on both. No piezo or premium tops.

Sucks, I know, but I realized that I've really underestimated hardtails prior to getting this guitar. The through-body stringing really brings out much more wood response. Sounds huge! I also think the controls look better on the non-piezo version, so I'm just as happy anyway! :p

Another thing, this guitar stays in tune unbelievably well! Actually, when I opened the classy hard case for the first time (I actually requested the distributor/dealer to not make any adjustments whatsoever to the guitar to get it as fresh as possible from the factory, as most techs around usually screw it all up messing with the saddles, when all that's needed is just a simple truss-rod adjustment) the guitar was tuned perfect. And it had not been touched since it left the factory August 9, 2006!! Sure, the whole tuning was a bit lower overall, but still. And all that was needed to get the action perfect after two years in storage was really just a truss-rod tweak. :)

Oh, and a big kudos to Dan @ EB CS, who was very kind and helpful with all my questions in the start! Thanks Dan! (I should perhaps say this in that other thread)

Fogman, you made my day with the monkey! :D Haha..

It really is. The wood just sings! I usually knock the tone down a bit using the neck humbucker. Great jazz lead tone that really breaks through the mix. I also use a bit odd settings on the Mark's EQ, as you can notice in one of the pics. This is for clean sounds, though. I'm constantly tweaking that amp!
