Hello

I'm a long time reader but first time poster.I've always been a great fan of MM basses but I never bought one.

I need some advices from MM experts as you are, someone who lives an hour away from where I live is selling a 1993 Stingray 4, 3 band eq. black w. black pguard, maple fretboard, perfect condition.

It may sound stupid for you guys but my question is,will it sound as good as the actual Stingrays I hear and play, maybe better, maybe worst,I mean I'd kill to get the famous STINGRAY CLASSIC SOUND,am I gonna get that with a 93???

Also if someone could post a few pics of what it would look(I know the bridge is diferent.....)cause I didn't see it yet(1 hour away).

Waiting for your advice to go check it out, quick response would be extremely apreciated.......Thank you in advance!!!!!

Hello, first Off the Ernie Ball Music Man Bass your about to buy will Kick an Originals Butt, Sorry to say but it's very true, I have owned over 55 of the 1976 to 1979 Stingrays and Now have 215 Ernie Ball Basses and I must say The Ernie Ball ones Just kill.
Now 2 band Verses 3 band, well I was a Hard Core 2 band guy for many years and Now I have come to learn and Love the 3 band, I personally think you'll love this bass for many reasons, The Ernie Ball necks are a Million times Straighter then any 70's could ever dream of. Non like Fender, Ernie Ball Has Made the Music Man bass a Better Bass period.
you will not be disappointed.
Buy it and Enjoy it. DJ

Welcome to the Forum.

Black Black Maple is a killer combo (one of my favourites). Your Bass will be as above but will also have a larger muted bridge (which I like also).

The 3 Band EQ is very versatile. With propper adjustment it can sound like the 2EQ. Build quality is far superior than the Pre-EB Basses.

I'm sure you'll like it! Good luck.

Good to read this as I have a two year old Black, Black Maple Stingray, 3 band EQ and think it is just fantastic. I tried one of the very first Rays to come into the UK back in in '76 and thought it was OK but not in the same league as my Rickenbacker 4001 (sorry guys).

The Ric hardly gets out of the case now and the Ray is my first call bass. Everything about it I totally love. One day my old jazz fusion band may reform and if it does I will check out the Sterling as a Jazz Bass is my fave for that style of music, just love the 'A' neck. I understand the Sterling has quite a Jazz style neck, though never played one yet. Does it do the Jaco 'burp' thing as well...?

agreed with MUSICMAN NUT...i've played a few vintage Stingrays and Sabres and the Ernieball Stingrays just kill (in a good way:p) to the point where I can't even consider playign a vintage stingray anymore...

Black/Black/Maple '93 with the mutes on the bridge?!

I'd try to get that one, although I already have too many... :D
