Hi folks,

I´m new here in this forum and since a long time i´m a fan of mm guitars. Until now i´m playing stratocasters for 25 years (a 60´s and a 50´s style from a small german company) but now i think it´s time to get my first mm.

what i´m looking for is a guitar for a lot of styles, ie rock, rnr, blues, funky, country. these are the styles i play with my band. so for me i decided that the silo special is the guitar that should be the right one. help me if you think i should choose something better. maybe the albert lee, but the look of this one is "very special", you know what i mean :D .

so, whats my question:
in a few months i take a short trip to NYC. where are there guitar shops with mm guitars? could someone recommend me one shop? what i found out are the guitar center shops. is there any special gc-shop you would prefer? i think there at least 3 shops in nyc.

It would be a great thing if someone could told me a little bit about the NYC mm-guitar shops.

thanks a lot from good old bavaria (home of the biggest beer fest of the world :) ).

Where in New York are you going to be and what transportation will be available to you?

If you are staying in the in the City of New York, the Guitar Center to visit is on W. 14th Street between 5th and 6th Aves. Very big store and recently they've had 7-10 Man guitars in stock. There are some other dealers in NYC that carry basses but do not stock guitars (Rudy's and Matt Umanov).

If you are going to the outer boroughs or traveling to the suburbs, Royal Music in Brooklyn and out on Long Island have the most inventory in the area. Then if you're looking for a day trip, Pete DuBaldo is in Connecticut about 2 hours northeast of the city.

Thanks for your answer. i´ll be there for a holiday trip. we stay in flushing for about 1 week and will visit the whole town, but also for shopping. last time i was in NY was 30 years ago. think there will be something new ;) . so i think the best will be to contact to this GC-store two weeks before to check which mm-guitars they have in stock. maybe they can change guitars between the different GC-stores in NY for the test.

If you visit Pete, be sure to find out the hours or contact him first. I stopped in last week when I was in the area on business only to find that he had hours that day before I arrived and after I was home. I'll look next time. I did get to peak in the window and see some nice stuff. It's not huge like a GC, but has good stuff inside. :D

pete is your best bet nothing against guitar center ofcourse, but hes got the most by far that ive seen here in tristate area. Pete is about 2-2 1/2 hours from flushing.....so it's a drive but well worth it. Plus i'm sure he'll give u more personal attention with ur questions and thoughts then a GC employee........petes a class act. Hopefully u can make the trip if not u have GC at 14th st, i believe u have em in queens, long island and larchmont that i know of which arent too far. I live about 5 mins from the larchmont store if u send me a PM closer to your trip i can tell u what they have in stock EBMM wise and let u know if its worth the trip =D
