I decided to have a go at a local pub based jam session last night. Usual story of all the old bluesers and jazzers out to play. So there was the usual smattering of black teles, white strats, lp's and a real nice honeyburst 335. All nice, safe and classic...I then get up to play and out of my case comes my Darg Luke! It looked like it had just been arrived from another dimension and at that precise moment I wished for an ebmm that blended in a little better...BP any chance of an archtop in lightburst?:rolleyes::D

I'll be back there in a couple of weeks with the Axis Sport!

Well that green is a vile colour so serves you right!!

I believe you can get EBMMs in black, white, vintage sunburst and honeyburst so you have no excuse. Off you go and spend some money.

Mind you my SS is pearl purple.....just because it stands out.

Oh....and a little more respect for us old people!!

Oh Andy, that green colour is gorgeous...but I guess it works better at a rock gig than at a blues night in the local!

I have ebmms in usual bursts etc, just jonesing for an ebmm ES335-a-like this morning! LOL!

I had two 335s and never bonded with them.

I guess your EBMM 335 will arrive about the same time as my L/H Silhouette 12 string.

I still say snot green is vile.....but each to his own (funnily enough just had an email about a limited edition Eastwood guitar in "Metallic Margarita" which looks to be exactly the same colour.....wonder where they got the idea?? MyRareGuitars.com >> Eastwood Classic 6 & Classic 12 Guitar >> Eastwood Guitars )

All that matters it what you play, not what you're playing it on. Next time show up with a Dean Dimebag.

That had me laughing a bit.......

I thought about my own guitars. I think I have a few that would fit in. The black Sub 1.....maybe replace the aluminum pickguard with a nice black plastic one....would be far less noticable. My Godin would blend right in, I think...it's not at all flashy. And probably the best fit is my 69 Guild archtop.....which has some genuine antiquity to it. I don't think the Axis would quite fit like the others.

I still say snot green is vile.....but each to his own

Andy, you only get to say this if you have seen a Dargie in person. Pictures just don't do it justice. If you have seen one, then I respect your opinion. If not, then I say you're wrong. :D

Koogs showed me pictures of the Dargie from the NAMM show....very cool idea.

Traditional? Not sure I follow....maybe the stand by classic? I still think it is cool you used the dargie. It is all in what you play.

I hear exactly what you're saying but I always took it as an opportunity. When I used my old EVH model, at least twice a gig someone would ask me about "that hot-rodded tele" I was playing:D

I think the Silhoutte Special looks very traditional especially in a typical color like white, black or sunburst. A non-technical audience member would probably think it was a Strat.

The Luke looks rather traditional too..... it's the deep green Dargie color that stands out.

yeah i agreed, actually i kinda look for that Silo Spec maybe in black or burst. I got that Idea from one of the audience when I played on jazz gig one day, he said that my luke vintage burst really looks traditional which he likes it.. well to be frankly the MM finish is just too priceless, never seen other 'great' guitars out there that have great finish like MM guitars. that's the fact!

I don't think any MM looks classic or traditional, and snooty classic purests (i.e. blooze players) typically refuse to even acknowledge its right to exist. Fine by me; I'm glad my guitars aren't the same ole same ole.

Steve,

I'm sure that I read a piece by BP on this very forum about how an absolute majority of EBMM guitars are ordered in Black, Natural, or Sunburst.
Which kind of validates your point.

Well, in all honesty, you had one of the most valuable, respectable, and beautiful guitars there. I pray that I'll have a Dargie one day. Anyone can go out and get the off the shelf Tele or Strat, or even LP or 335 for that matter. Not everyone can show up with what you have. Let them stare; Let them envy; Let them do whatever makes them feel better about themselves. You aren't the "Cookie Cutter" musician and you're not playing common, everyday equipment. Dare to be different and things will fall in the right place.

My attitude was - you don't like it? F*&$ off.

BTW, everyone loved that bass.
