Hi guys

I've decided to try flats on the bongo... 50/105's

All going great until the G string won't tune up as its slipping in the machine head!!!

It seems to be doing it no matter how i "saddle" the string.

HELP!! anyone come across this before

These cost me much more than my normal stainless steel bad boys and she's goptta be ready for tomorrow night!!

cheers as usual!!

I put some rotosound flats on my SR4 and have the exact same problem. Plus, the tip snapped as I started the first wind, the silk started unraveling... I wrapped the peg with a thick rubberband to keep it all tuned as a stop-gap measure. :(

Same experience here - these days I leave the G string longer than I'd like and for extra measure, I crimp/fold-over the very end of the string and squeeze it in the tuner hole.

upon reflection, i was being pretty stupid stringing them the same way i do slinky's..

i'm amazed at how much zing these things have actually, i expected the mwaaaah but i can still get a nice pop sound too.

this is all in plan with Ritchie's Buttercreme Sterling arriving any day now... Bongo with flats, Sterling with rounds... for now at least!!

They will warm up nicely over the next few weeks.

Something about Chromes and EB flats can make them slip on the G string tuner. I have started running both the D and G strings through the top slot twice, then winding them around the post. Has solved this issue entirely for me.
