Hey guys
i have a question about my 2 lukes?
Why does my older Luke 96 sound so much heavier and distorted to my newer Luke ?
same pickups same strings same settings on amp?
Is it the Tone knob on the newer Luke that makes a big difference ?
if so how do i UN-Wire it to sound the same as the older Luke??

by the way they both sound awesome the white sparkle is a little more distinct in its tone But the 96 Luke is just smoother higher gain sounding..
thanks
Dean:confused::D:confused:

The pickups ARE different.

Luke I Single coil pickups = a version of the EMG SA
Luke II Single coil pickups = EMG SLV's

There's the difference :D

Apologies Dean for wandering slightly off-topic, but I am wondering why you want both Lukes to sound the same? I have many guitars and all of them sound slightly different, which I like.

PS: You're one heck of a guitarist. Rock on!

well i use them for different tuning in the band and i want the same sound?
does that make sence?
:)

Your only solution is to sell me you Luke I so you can buy a Luke II and get all your similar sounds that way:D J/K

I'd probably seek out an older set of the same EMGs and dump those in your newer Luke----at least older 85 and not the singles.

I've owned several Luke II's at the same time and even they sounded different from each other. Its all in the wood Dwells!

That said, having a floyd will make a huge difference to the tone (Axis vs ASS) and I dare say the tone pot is sucking some juice too (Axis vs ASS again!).

Dean, the Floyd would be part of it. Some guitars just have mojo (sweat, beer, smoke etc). Wait till you get your BFR!
