i've been trying to find a good one for a while now..one that doesnt take away any sound or volume and is also passive. right now i' am using a volume pedal for that, but i really just need it for tuning/muting. does anyone have a recommendation?

yes, that´s a morley A/B switch.

They're pretty easy to build, good project for ya. Another option is to get a tuner that mutes. I have my Strobostomp first in line, it mutes when engaged.
