I love my 30th! I truly do. She fits beautifully in all the bands and all the different songs and styles I play. From zydeco to blues, classic rock to original singer songwriter, this is one hell of an instrument.

I've just spent the past hour cleaning her with wonder wipes and string cleaner and thought I should let you all know - I love my 30th!

Thank you for making such a wonderful instrument.

I went to a local shop here today and they had a 30th up on the wall..... I wanted to try it out but due to the lack of sales people I didn't have a chance to get it down off the wall and give it a go, but that was probably for the best as I don't think I could handle the torture of not being able to walk out with it. Looks beautiful though.

...maybe have to try it out tomorrow...... :D

Yes, it truly is a special bass. Never heard or played anything with the special mojo it has.

To me it certainly sounds different. Almost a more "refined" stingray sound. The mahogany body does a wonder for the tone of the instrument. It has a "rounder" and "deeper" sound...makes the active stingray preamp even more useful IMO. I love my 30th! I had one back in 2007...had to sell it to pay my mortgage one month after my wife and I moved out of our house and had it on the market. I regretted having to sell it...but alas it was necessary. I just recently found another "brand new" one left in a GC...quickly purchased it and have been sleeping with it ever since!

Don't try. Just get one off eBay. They currently go at insanely low prices. Just a year ago, they were hard to be found and expensive, while now they pop up all the time for really cheap.

IMO, yes. They have an incredibly rich and full lower midrange. And harmonics seem to just ring on for days. They "sing". I like that especially on the fretless version...

Good to know! BTW, your first 30th is now with a good friend of mine, who totally loves it. I ended up with another 30th which had a more attractively figured neck , GAS and all. At one point I had three of them, and was not sure whether I really should let any of them go...

I think everybody who really totally loves the StingRay sound as I do, should try to get the 20th and 30th Anniversary editions, because they offer a different aspect of the classic 'Ray sound that cannot be covered by tweaking the EQ or adjusting the amp.

There you have it. I'm an addict...

here my experience:
i played 2 i wouldn't buy, even if they would be really cheap. they sounded dead (with new strings) and they had deadspots.

i also played 2 i would buy, if they would be cheap. they sounded just ok, like normal stingray - nothing special, also one had a light deadspot.

and i also played 2 i would buy new... (and i bought one ^^) because they sounded perfect - no deadspot, a lot of punch, no g-string "problem", sparkling highs and a nice growl.

yes, i was able to compare 6 30ths at the same time! they were set up correctly and just came in the store. i would only recommend 2. i guess thats not a good rate... but what do i know, i'm not a EBMMcaholic.

Don't make those kind of assumptions.

And guys, let's keep this civil. I hate having to moderate (which I'm now going to do by editing a post or two).

The 30th is absolutely wonderful...all the deep lows I love in a Ray. I miss mine dearly, especially since it built on my b-day.
I know I can always find another, but I was thinking of maybe a fretless next time.

You're exorbitantly lucky! I had exactly zero to choose from in local stores, so I did the buy-two-keep-one exercice. Problem is: It does not work all the time as expected. Sometimes both are staying...
